Created by the eruption of Mount Mazama around 7,700 years ago. Within a few days the volcano had erupted so fiercely that it caved in on itself. July 21, 2015 •. When I finally arrived at my campsite it was almost dusk. I was meeting a friend from college there, another person on a solo road trip this summer. Once we met up we headed down to Pfeiffer Beach, a short drive down a hidden road from the campsite. The sun was setting as we got there, and the scenery stunning. I’m going to blame it on not being taught any geography in grade school, seriously this is not a subject taught in North Carolina. Regardless, I supposed I should’ve known. Nothing is more traditional Venice Beach in my mind than this area and the skate park. From L.A. I headed to Malibu for a night, a huge contrast to Venice, and only thirty minutes away.
