Quantum Optics Group, Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences. Quantum statistical properties of radiation. New measure of the statistical properties of the radiation field has been introduced. It has been called Wehrl entropy. Usefulness of this measure has been demonstrated on several physically relevant examples, like in the problem of phase operator in quantum optics. A new uncertainty relation between phase and amplitude of the electromagnetic field has been discussed.
