Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. For the last of the summer days – a gingham Lily. May 22, 2014. The weather is cooling in Brisbane but I am hanging on to the remains of summer with a tight grin. While a sundress is not quite season appropriate at the moment you can get away with it – just stay in bed until the suns warms up the air a little bit. Small bust adjustment for the bodice. Gingham from fabric swap at Brisbane sewing meet up (silk habotai from fabric stash). Following Inna’s lead. I am n...

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. Vintage Pledge – A dress for your inner mod air hostess. July 6, 2014. August 30, 2014. When Marie from A Stitching Odyssey announced the Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge. Joins the Vintage Pledge with a guest plot that served as a reminder about why vintage patterns are really worth it. So I pull out one of my vintage patterns that had been ignored for far too long (thankfully with a matching bust size to limit the alternations) and off we go:. The fabric is a Japane...

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. March 27, 2014. With three short completed its time to battle fit…please step up Sewaholic Thurlows. A 1/2 inch full seat and 1/2 inch full abdomen adjustment. Stretch cotton from Gorgeous Fabrics. The complex patterns continue for the Summer of Shorts as we have a fly front, double welt back pockets, centre back extension and belt loops. Definitely one for the details! I think I was falling into the rabbit hole that is fitting as I panicked when attaching the wais...

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. Silky Hawthorn dress with swing…. July 6, 2014. October 21, 2014. I did have a vague plan of what I wanted to sew for the next couple of months – well back in April/May I did. The plan was to finally finish the Little French Jacket and start some tailoring projects that I have been stockpiling material for. But the team at Monthly Stitch. 4 at bust / 5 at waist. A slight Small Bust Adjustment (as usually required for Colette Patterns). To be honest, when the Hawtho...

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. March 2, 2014. March 2, 2014. With the ongoing battle for the perfect fitting shorts I need a break. A quick make with no welt pockets and fit issues. Enter Lady Skater! 4 at bust / 5 at waist. Extended shoulder seams for wide shoulders. Again its another pdf pattern, I think the taping together of paper is sapping my sewing mojo. Next make will definitely be tissue paper pattern. The skirt is great – oh so flattering! The neckline is sweet. The neckline bindin...

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. Ending the sewing year with some glitter and sparkles. December 25, 2014. December 25, 2014. One last grasp of breath for the Vintage Pledge. I did intend to complete a 1950’s Bishop method skirt dress as part of the Vintage Pledge but other sewing projects always seem to grab my attention – yes, completely squirrel’d that one. Instead 1970 glamor rears its fabulous head and a Grecian floor length flowing wedding dress appears. Shorten skirt length and bodice length.

Just another WordPress.com site. Recently I’ve become more intrigued with sustainable living. 1: Container homes. It makes sense to recycle these things. Look how great they can be! It sure looks like a ton of work to make them remotely livable. I wonder though– how cold would they get in the winter? I hear they can be frustrating to build with due to awkward door dimensions/etc. I think I’ll just get a cheap small house and get an ikea kitchen… that thought makes me happy too. 3: Livestock. Chickens!

An exploration of the portrayal of Women In Media. Politics, Activism and the Law. Science, Technology & Gaming. The Problem is…. March 28, 2015. However, it isn’t long after joining her new faction that Beatrice starts going ‘weak at the knees’ for some older, tall, dark and handsome male character. Sigh. Perpetuating the very problem I have with how female characters are portrayed. It made me think though: what is my actual problem? Because I hated Twilight (a problem that will no doubt get it’s ...

Adventures in the Pacific Northwest
Healthy living good eats balcony gardening weekend adventures in the Pacific Northwest. Thursday, January 23, 2014. January Cure: Bathroom Cabinets Cleanout. Since our bathroom vanity does not have much extraneous space, awhile ago I had picked up an open storage box from Target to corral often-used products, which has helped keep good order (for the most part! I included the medicine cabinet from the kitchen too and straightened that up a bit as well - now there's good storage space for first aid and me...
