On Being a Nurse

On Being a Nurse. View my complete profile. What to do next. What is a nurse? Friday, October 20, 2006. The coolest thing about being a nurse are the vast posibilities. I have been learning to be an OR nurse and finally will get to do it on my own. No one watching over me.telling me how to do it. I know how to take care of a patient.I have learned how to do it in the OR. Tonight I start working nights. The flexibility is great. I work two 12 hour shifts (Friday and Saturday) and I get paid full time.

On Being a Nurse: Becoming a nurse

http://www.onbeinganurse.blogspot.com/2006/07/becoming-nurse.html

On Being a Nurse. View my complete profile. What is a nurse? Tuesday, July 25, 2006. I did not set out to be a nurse. In high school, I did not think it was "cool" to be a nurse. I remember thinking that a nurse was someone who was the doctors handmaid. A nurse did not think for themselves. When I was 12, I broke my leg. After wearing a long leg cast for 3 months, I had a skin, hairy, useless leg. I went to a physical therapist. He hurt me! I was going to be a physical therapist. I passed the physical.

On Being a Nurse: What is a nurse?

http://www.onbeinganurse.blogspot.com/2006/07/what-is-nurse.html

On Being a Nurse. View my complete profile. Tuesday, July 25, 2006. What is a nurse? A nurse is more than checking lab values, giving medications, bathing patients. A nurse is more than a profession, more than a job, more than how much money can be made. I am a nurse. It is who I am. I do not separate myself from "my job" and "my life". It is like being a mom. It does not matter where I go, who I am with, what I am doing. I am still a mom. I am still a nurse. Today, I love what I do. Today, I am a nurse.

My Back Yard: Leafs and flowers

http://wheretheyplay.blogspot.com/2012/08/leafs-and-flowers.html

A daily window into ordinary lives in a most extraordinary time. Saturday, August 11, 2012. This morning the sunflowers I stuck out at the end of the yard, out in the blazing summer Florida sun, bloomed. One on the end had opened two days ago, but then, literally overnight, the others joined their sister. Asters. Amazing relics, sustainable in their adaptable simplicity. Out back the bromelia bloom a month early, but are a welcome site nevertheless. Despite the infestations, some tomatoes continue to chu...

Sunday, September 12, 2010. The week passed with only a few passing rains. Florida Wild

http://floridawild.blogspot.com/2010/08/verdant-changes-over-week-are-far-more.html

Friday, August 27, 2010. The changes over a week are far more subtle than over several. This week has been especially rainy, so the plants have in fact taken on quite a bit more size, especially the dangle-pod. They are fast growing annuals and have outpaced the dog fennel. [You can click on the photo for a closer look.] On the west side of the pond the swamp flatsedge ( Cyperus ligularis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Florida Wild: August 2008

http://floridawild.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 16, 2008. Monday, August 04, 2008. There are so many plants living in the Palm Hammock. And so this anonymous plant, and so many like it, live on in that cherished plat of land saved there on the west side of campus. Its flowers will erupt for the next several weeks, rains feeding its patient roots. The same weeks in which the national charade unfolds again. Will world-changing tectonic events follow in the wake of a Democratic victory in November? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Florida Wild: January 2009

http://floridawild.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 19, 2009. It was a cool clear morning. We all remember - we all have been remem-bering for almost eight years. And I am not trying to desecrate or rhapsodize; I do not use these images to sensationalize. . We followed its path that morning in our many different stations, the small plane became a jet.  The first jet was followed by a second. We stood riveted, what do we do? They froze us in place. Watching. Unbelieving. Being acted upon. Thursday, January 08, 2009. Towering Forest of Fennel.

Life on the Home Front

Life on the Home Front. The Realities of Being an Army Wife. I suppose there isn’t an excuse for six months of silence–especially on a blog. It’s inexcusable. But I thought I’d at least share the reason, and perhaps get a little sympathy that would cause you to forget my egregious absence. I'd just like to thank all the millions of mothers who have been through this process and the majority who’ve even gone on to repeat it! I'm so grateful he's been around to do everything- except write this blog for me!

On Being An Extra

On Being An Extra. Friday, August 14, 2015. Shibuya, home to the world's busiest cross walk. At any given time hundreds of people are crossing or waiting to cross at this intersection. Nearby is the train station and the famous Hachiko statue. A few weeks ago, I spent some time at the intersection on an, albeit slow, Saturday. Thursday, August 6, 2015. Recycled can wind chime. Friday, July 24, 2015. Last weekend I discovered a cosplay event called Acosta! Monday, July 20, 2015. A preview of things to come.

On Being An Optimist. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Dream Team 2.0. Posted by Aoife Toomey. Before I get started let me just state unequivocally that I love and admire Michelle Obama. She's one of the best role models to come along in years, and the Obamas. Relationship seems more than pretty great to a complete outside observer. Now that that's out of the way, I have to say however that MoDo. Ran a paragraph in her latest OpEd. That got me thinking:. Aura In a funny way, he’s the man of her dreams.". The mos...
