Always a Gamer: Keeping My Game Afloat, the Finalé
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2012/05/keeping-my-game-afloat-finale.html
Friday, May 18, 2012. Keeping My Game Afloat, the Finalé. Since moving back to Canada at the end of February, I have been without an official web service, thus I haven't had anywhere to upload pdf files. Then, today, it occurred to me that I've had somewhere to upload and store those all along. Google Documents! I've uploaded my Baba Yaga's Hut model pdf again, so that link is now corrected and active, but I can also upload something that I've been wanting to for some time. After building that initial mo...

Always a Gamer: December 2010
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 27, 2010. Keeping my game afloat. Part 2. Ugh, I've been working on this post since Dec 19th, at 9:17am. It is currently December 28th, at 10:15pm. I'm getting this done tonight, dammit! While I was working on the ship tiles I featured in my previous post, I was looking for an easy way out. Why? I found a model on eBay and in a few online shops. It was for a pirate ship wooden model, by some unidentified company. (Note: Oh, apparently it is "Toysmith". *shrug*). The details of it said th...

Always a Gamer: Stuff in Mind
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2011/08/stuff-in-mind.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2011. I've taken a break from model building after that last one, mainly to prepare for Dragon*Con, which is coming up this weekend. I have several ideas in mind for my tile projects, though. I have a request from my FLGS representative to make him some Warhammer 40k terrain for the store, based on my chipboard tile designs. That should be interesting, and I'm looking forward to starting in on that. September 17, 2011 at 10:08 AM. Hey Scott, are you on Twitter? View my complete profile.

Always a Gamer: January 2011
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. No pictures from last week's game. I forgot to bring my camera to the session. Too bad too, because I showcased more of my miniature "proxies" in this session. More on that, further down. I think the game went really well again. I'm enjoying it. My players seem to enjoy it as well. They seem quite well invested in the wackiness. I'm clearly horrible at this.". Which the players will understand once they're into the encounter. heh. Anyway, the session went pretty well. I stil...

Saturday, December 24, 2011. The Next More Miniature Conversions. I'm having a thought that I should turn "More Miniature Conversions" into a thing, and keep the trend going, sticking something different before it from now on. When my wife and I were first courting, we kept a "Wednesday" thing going on in our email subjects for quite awhile, so I have some faith in my ability (likely with her help) to keep it going for awhile. heh. First up. The Pixies. These are "Wasp" minis. Next up. more Boggles.

Always a Gamer: July 2011
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 3, 2011. I've been thinking, lately, about coming up with my own patterns for the walls I've been producing. The WotC patterns are nice, but they're WotC's patterns. I doubt I'll get a chance to sell these tiles, but if I want to distribute them in any way, I figure I should probably use my own designs. I'm no artist, though, so I figured the best place to start is reality. I figure I'll put in a little bit of effort to turn them into something less photo-realistic, but that can wait.

Always a Gamer: More Miniature Conversions
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-miniature-conversions.html
Saturday, December 10, 2011. It's been awhile since I posted anything new. I've been running the last three seasons of D&D Encounters, which has been a lot of fun. One of the challenges of the games has been coming up with miniatures for all the opponents the PCs encounter. The ones I made:. The Castle Ravenloft figures:. Deathjump Spiders, Frenzied Werewolf and Fell Court Ruffians. I bought these from Auggie's Games. The Horrorclix and Mage Knight figures:. Zombies and a Ghoul. Seldra, the False Heir.

Chris and Pat are great guys! I wanted to pay the store back for staying open later on Wednesday nights, and help them to be more profitable, in general. Click to download pdf. Always a Gamer: My thoughts on D&DNext and Edition Wars
http://always-a-gamer.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-thoughts-on-d-and-edition-wars.html
Monday, January 16, 2012. My thoughts on D&DNext and Edition Wars. Like everyone else that has an interest in D&D, I've seen the announcement for D&DNext/D&D5e. It didn't even come as a surprise to me, since I'd kind of "seen it coming" over the past several months, through the various D&D articles, the blogs I read, and tweets from people I follow. I was. Surprised that they decided to go with the Open Playtest right from the start. Surprised and quite pleased. Or toughing it out. I ran a Moldvay-editio...
