Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. Back to the Races 2015. March 4, 2015. March 9, 2015. It’s true that I have traveled a lot in my 35 years, but not so extensively in the States. Generally I am good at finding deals and keeping costs down, but sometimes, as I learned this weekend, it’s best to choose hotels that get really good ratings, not mediocre ones…. Asked for a taxi, and left the premises tout de suite! Somewhere around 30km...

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. June 17, 2015. I have been on the go for weeks now. Moving, traveling, racing, working and even a small amount of socializing when I am not completely worn out from my busy days. With 3 big races in May, and one more at the start of June, I have taken some time to back off of my feet for a short period of time. Two of Canada’s best marathon ladies. Post race with Rachel Hannah (Top Canadian in 2:33!

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. Heating up in Doha Qatar. November 14, 2014. November 16, 2014. The Middle East hadn’t been on my radar for travel, however, when the opportunity came up to race at the IAU World Trophy 50k in Doha Qatar, I couldn’t resist. I somehow figured that my week of sauna time would be sufficient enough to get me through this! Aspire Zone and The Torch Hotel. Closing ceremonies with Emily and Joasia. Fantas...

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. Not Out of the Woods. September 9, 2016. With that in mind, I knew I had to be cautious with my choices, despite the desire to try to push through hours of running. The idea of missing Squamish 50 mile this year felt daunting. I desperately wanted to be there, on those flowing trails, but my more thoughtful/realistic self said ‘no! 8217; As I battled my inner thoughts of “should I go or not? It had...

A few photos to reflect on the last 12 months. To cross training while injured. Gwyn Jones, my Dadcu. Saying good-bye to my lovely grandfather, whom I miss dearly. To seeing my family in Britain. And reuniting with old friends. Spending as much time with my boy before we said good-bye. And revisiting our home in La Suisse.

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. March 28, 2015. March 28, 2015. In general, I mix my running time between road and trail. As much as I would love to visit the local trail terrain on a daily basis, it just isn’t always feasible. And to be honest, keeping some road leg speed, can be an advantage in endurance races, whether on trail or road. Jacket on or jacket off? Water bladder full or half empty? A family of strong runners indeed.

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. Running with the Swiss……encore. September 19, 2014. September 19, 2014. I had no initial intention to continue writing once we returned to Canada, but here I am still writing about various (mostly running related) things from time to time. The ra...

Running with the Swiss. Moving to the rhythm of my feet and finding new trails as I go. A View of the Alps. August 26, 2014. With my loving dog getting on in age, I have been struggling with the sight of his body getting weaker and weaker from his degenerative myelopathy. As much as he loves being carried, my smallish body is having trouble carrying his 60lbs each day up our stairs. But it was worth each and every lift. Twas a good day to be out.
