Trophy Husband: A Weekend in My Village
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-weekend-in-my-village.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Thursday, August 6, 2015. A Weekend in My Village. Well, we’re heading home this weekend. And by home, I mean southern Ontario - the Golden Triangle - Hamilton, St. Catharines, Fort Erie. And this time, it’s just a pleasure cruise. Oh how we’ve been waiting . . . My boys would have benefitted from all of that. Yes, during our short stays in several Manitoba towns, we picked up surrogate grandparents and surrogate uncles and aunts for the boys. And some of them were t...

Trophy Husband: December 2013
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Funny, but not really. Ya know, sometimes I have to laugh at the news. Even when it’s really not funny. Take Canada AM this morning. In one segment, we have a doctor on, from Toronto’s Sick Kids’ Hospital, talking about food allergies and kids. (News Story HERE. By failing to introduce these foods at an early age, we were almost promoting food allergies where they might not otherwise have existed. Huh. It’s almost logical. And...The interviewer...

Trophy Husband: May 2015
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Friday, May 1, 2015. So yeah, we’ve been transferred. It’s an ongoing part of the RCMP festival. We’ve been at our current post for about 4 and a half years now, and it’s time to move on. In fact, it’s a little past time. And, by the time the paperwork crawled through the system, last fall’s real estate market was well into its annual hibernation. So we’ve been waiting . . . enduring the occasional showing of our home . . . all thr...Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Parents&#...

Trophy Husband: April 2013
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Bandwagon . . . kinda. The Boston Marathon bombing. I guess it's all anyone can talk about right now. So I'll jump on the bandwagon. BUT, before you read on, please understand I don't like bandwagons. Keep that in mind. I've been reading a lot - blogs, tweets, news stories, Facebook updates . . . There are some things I can't escape. First, who makes up those little pictures on Facebook? Can I beat the other guys' candle thingies? And I must also...

Trophy Husband: August 2013
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Sunday, August 4, 2013. Winding things up that dinosaur provincial Park this morning. The trailer is packed up and we're ready to move on to Kinbrook provincial Park. Dinosaur Park has grown on me. The bug level diminished a bit and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. That being said the bug level is still well above average and there is nowhere to swim here. So we're ready to move on. Thursday, August 1, 2013. The first thing that concerned me was that they handed me a...

Trophy Husband: March 2012
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Monday, March 12, 2012. Not sure if I wrote about this last year or not. But things surrounding St. Patrick's Day have certainly become more complicated than when I was a kid. I mean, when I was in Grade 1, we just all loaded up in the teacher's van and headed to the bar for some green beer . . . Grade 1, um, I don't think we did anything beyond colouring some pictures of some leprechauns, rainbows, pots of gold, shamrocks. And then it was on to Easter. Now, as I see it,...

Trophy Husband: October 2013
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Thursday, October 10, 2013. Okay, so a day or two back, I sympathized with the plight of the younger of my two boys, following a diminished level of enthusiasm, on my part, for the loss of his first baby tooth. And fair enough. But today we'll look at one of the advantages to being the youngest. I thought it was pretty cool that he didn't cling to me the whole time. In fact, most of the time I'm sure he forgot I was even there. Little Mr. Independence ditched...Really wi...

Trophy Husband: April 2015
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Again, I find myself less than impressed by health care in this province. As I type, I am listening to Sontoo coughing, sniffling . . . not feeling all that well. 8220;Keep him home from school until Monday, just to be safe,” I was told. He then looked in Sontoo’s ears and throat and decided to take a swab to test for strep throat. Good. Strep test came back positive. Prescription for amoxycillin and we were on our way. I’d take this all u...

Trophy Husband: January 2012
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. This too shall pass . . . I hope. I've lived it, I've witnessed it, but I still don't understand it. What is it that drives brothers to make each other miserable? Is it a competition thing? Is it part of the reindeer games? I'm trying to remember, but I can't. Yesterday, I had an eye appointment. They had to take pictures of my optic nerve (part of the diabetes fun! Bottom line is the boy got his treat and enjoyed it to its fullest extent.

Trophy Husband: September 2011
http://neodad-trophyhusband.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
RCMP Spouse and Stay At Home Dad. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. I saw it coming . . . You know, I saw this one coming. I should have put a stop to it, but I didn't. Sure, I threw out a half-hearted, "Sonwun, that's probably not a great idea." But in hindsight, I should have done more. I should have taken the rope, the harness and the rocks and put them away, in a safe place. No, this was the real thing. Using his mother's rock-climbing harness, he will toss a rope up over a branch and actually haul hims...
