We Live Here Now. In 1991 people with learning difficulties started to be moved back into Enfield (where they were born) as a result of The Community Care Act 1990. One-to-One (Enfield) was started at this time with the aim of using volunteers to help people settle into the local community. One-to-One is now 21 years old and to celebrate this we asked the Heritage Lottery Fund to help us run the ‘We Live Here Now’ project. We have made a book about the project Click Here. We want people with leaning difficulties to have better lives, speaking out about. And taking part in all aspects of community life in Enfield. 1 Inclusion for people with learning difficulties so that they can live life on an equal footing with other people. 2 A community that is aware of the needs of people with learning difficulties and is open and accessible to them. Some of the things we do:-. Developing self-esteem and leadership amongst our members. Supporting people to run a social business.

One-to One (Enfield) is a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Committee made up of unpaid people. These people are called Directors. Directors have legal responsibilities and must make sure that we are well run and spend our money wisely. Directors are elected by our members at our Annual General Meeting. Any member can stand for election but it is best to come to Management Team meetings first to learn about the job. We can elect up to ten Directors. Elizabeth Johnstone-Taoushanis Health Champion.

For course details click on picture. We provide training for people who want to make sure that disabled are included. For example, libraries who want to do more for people with learning difficulties, sports centres that want to be accessible, police who want to make reporting hate crime easier. Our training group is called Valuing and Including People (VIP for short), they are starting a social business. The training sessions are tailored to suit the needs of the customers.
