When I, Za, landed in the USA in 1982, (from Neptune, where I was a sort-of librarian) I got to choose my own parents, name, physical assets, gender, etc. I didn't get to choose the time. I wanted to come 30 years from now but no, they had to send me in now, so I could be "of use" when Earth goes to **** (and then recovers) quite soon actually. Yey.
