One Catholic Mama

Friday, August 14, 2015. How we do screen-time. Screen-time is a big issue with a lot of parents. How much to allow? How much is too much? How do we protect our kids online? I think there are good reasons to be concerned. Video games are especially addicting. People try to justify video game use, and while they do have their plus side, they also ARE addicting. They were addicting back when I was kid and Nintendo and Super Mario brothers was all the rage. I don't want that for my kids. Generally our child...

One Catholic Mama: House of Mirrors, Body Image and Weight Loss (and WIWS).

http://www.onecatholicmama.com/2015/08/house-of-mirrors-body-image-and-weight.html

Sunday, August 9, 2015. House of Mirrors, Body Image and Weight Loss (and WIWS). We moved into our home just under two months ago. When we first moved, I was a bit shocked at how many mirrors are in this house. You see.prior to this, we didn't own any full-length mirrors. We just had over the sink bathroom mirrors and one dresser mirror, that was at most a half-length mirror. Nothing full-length at all. Then we moved here, and the prior owners must have really liked mirrors, because there are a ton.

Saint Affairs: Up the Ski Slope

http://www.saintaffairs.com/2015/07/up-ski-slope.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Up the Ski Slope. Once most of us were back on flat land we quickly realized we had ticks in and on our shoes, so we took them off, and stuck them in a bag. Ugh, ticks are the worst! Then we waited until everyone was back from the hike before heading to the lake house. When we got back to the house, someone asked how the hike went, and I quickly responded, "It was probably the worst hike of my life. But I am happy I did it.". Up the Ski Slope. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Summer Stitching Stash Blast #12 {link-up}. It is week twelve of the Summer Stitching Stash Blast. I finished the Doctor Who cross-stitch! My sister-in-law, Abby, loved it. I have moved on to a pumpkin cross-stitch that I started about ten months ago. As for my blanket, I only have two and half balls of yarn left to knit. I will finish it this week. I am determined! What are you working on currently? Have you finished any projects recently? For a the full description of needlework.

Credo in Unum Deum | One Catholic's Perspective on Catholicism and Other Religions

Credo in Unum Deum. One Catholic's Perspective on Catholicism and Other Religions. Bull;January 20, 2010 • Leave a Comment. I finally received one of many books that I have been looking forward to: Signs of Life-40 Catholic Customs and Their Biblical Roots. By Scott Hahn (his latest work). The New Testament, and the Church was in existence long before the scriptures were brought together as a whole. So, we must realize that when Catholics reference the biblical basis for our beliefs, it is not that w...

Being a Catholic dad is important to me; it's my vocation. Because it is so important, I think about it a lot. This blog is going to be a place to share my thoughts other than with my wife. She's tired of hearing me rant and rave. Thursday, April 1, 2010. I was cleaning out my Inbox, and noticed this quote that I've been holding onto. Instead of keeping it in email, I thought I would post it here. I'm not sure who the quote is from unfortunately. Posted by Darren Hale. Tuesday, January 26, 2010. We spend...

Unneccesary Yarning

Its not unusual for me to be up at this time, even on a school day. Thankfully its a long weekend. I Skyped with a friend yesterday and she talked about being not a morning person, and how the night makes her feel better. I could relate. Im definitely not a morning person, and I find myself with more energy and will to do work really late at night. Whether this is because I tire myself from staying up late at night, or my brain is.
