Ben Cummings – Onechild Ghana

Having studied Politics, specialising in international relations and development at Nottingham University, Ben volunteered at Baworo ICCES in summer 2006. He has worked as a public affairs consultant in Westminster, for a sports international governing body, and now for a sports marketing company. Outside work and Onechild Ghana Ben spends his time doing loads of sport. 11 September 5 a side tournament. Our ever-popular 5 a side football tournament is back again - now in its 11th year! What does Onechild Ghana do? Onechild Ghana believes that education, training and skills are fundamental in alleviating poverty in developing countries and help young adults build a future for themselves. Onechild Ghana’s primary objective is to advance the education of the pupils at all ICCES centres in the Ashanti region of Ghana by assisting in the provision of facilities for vocational education. Working directly with the local population, Onechild Ghana raises money to fulfill its goals:.

If you are independent and up for a challenge you could be working at an ICCES centre. Teaching English, Maths or Business, assisting in centre development and organising student placements are just some of the activities you could be involved in at ICCES in the Ashanti region. Amongst other fundraising stunts for Onechild, in 2007 he cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats. 11 September 5 a side tournament. Richard Bussy – Onechild Ghana

Richard took a different to route to Ghana, deciding that after spending 7 years working in London that his opportunities to go volunteer in Ghana – where his mother was born and raised – were running out. While in Ghana he was based in Baworo, but worked with the ICCES Regional Manager and a series of Centre Managers (head masters) to understand the relative strengths and weaknesses across the region, and see where Onechild can be of most help. 11 September 5 a side tournament.
