Many of those well wishes to and memories of siblings described the day as a "made up day." This made me think, aren't they all - "made up? Mother's and Father's days were created by greeting card companies. Even the big ones like Christmas and Easter co-opted existing "days" and evolved through cultural and religious influences.

Wednesday, August 26, 2015. A person can accumulate a lot of stuff over a lifetime. In preparation for moving, I'm spending a lot of time these days going through stuff, both at home and at work. Among many reactions to the things I'm finding, two seem to come to the forefront. The first is - "Why in the world do I still have this? Old bank statements, 3.5 floppy disks, photos of people I don't know, playbills, church bulletins, ticket stubs, and so much more. The simple question is: Does it bring me joy?

Either way, getting one from a rescue centre, does at least give some animals, who were already in the system a better life without lining the pockets of those shops that sell them.
