My kids were curious if other teachers in the building were doing GoNoodle- or even knew about what it was. We took a survey from each teacher. My kids were mind blown that the majority of the teachers in our school does not have their class participate in these awesome brain breaks. What are they thinking? The next thing on o...

http://hapsnhacks.blogspot.com/2013/01/testing-woes.html
4th Grade Haps and Hacks. Short for "happenings"; occurrences. Clever solutions to tricky problems. Sunday, January 13, 2013. So much happened during this first week back! But, it seemed to drag on FOREVER! Did anyone else feel this way? It was slow, and it was tedious. I expected to have more issues with my kiddos getting back into the routines, but they came in and did what they needed to do like we had never had a break (for the most part). I was proud of them! I took my first Zumba classes! I think t...

Hanging Out With Mrs. Strout: Words, Words, Words!
http://hangingoutwithmrsstrout.blogspot.com/2016/10/words-words-words.html
Saturday, October 29, 2016. Words, Words, Words! When I'm teaching a new phoneme I like to start with an anchor chart. I like my kiddos to build it with me and then they can use it and refer back to it over and over again. I often follow up an anchor chart with a booklet where they can sort words or see words in lots of different fonts. Sometimes my kiddos work in small groups and unscramble sentences that have the words we are working on. They love this! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Div align="ce...

Sunday, May 10, 2015. The Ron Clark Experience. On Friday, I had one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I visited the Ron Clark Academy. If you know nothing about the Ron Clark Academy, stop reading now and watch this video. If you are already aware of Ron Clark, Kim Bearden, and the rest of the staff, then you understand just how big of a deal this really was. I first read one of Clark’s book, The Essential 55. A few months ago (read about that here. We were led around the room to our stoppi...
