One Guy and A Server. Just another Guy and a Web Server. Ginger Wheat Beer Session 29. Sure did. High proof and a light wheat color and taste. Very clever using the ginger to hide the alcohol. The problem with higher levels of alcohol in beer is it can taste winy. It’s easy enough to jack up the content but to balance it out is usually the job of the hops. This is a great beer and I would not only recommend it I’m not. Recommending it so there is more for me! Posted by admin @ 9:20 pm.

One Guy and A Server. Just another Guy and a Web Server. Comments Off on Yeast no More. I brewed straight through the summer with some great wheat beers. I then followed up with some light beers. Kolsch, Leffe and English Pale Ale. Bought a bigger burner to heat the wort and fry some turkey. It’s still a challenge to cool the wort. I need to go over to a immersion cooler. So now we are going into the fall with some great brown ales. Honey brown, Phate Tyre, Caribou Slobber.

This was a Belgian ale I make for the summer. Coming to the end of the boil, the wort chiller is being sterilized. Once we got it cooled down (in the summer this is a pain) we transferred it over to a six gallon carboy. We ferment for about 4 weeks before racking over to a keg. Filling the carboy with cooled wort.

A Vet from the Day of Infamy. Not much going on in the last few weeks. The Make it Right volunteer day of laying sod was bumped on account of rain, so I've just been coasting to volunteer training at the zoo on Saturdays (T minus Two Weeks till Monkeys! Then manning the info desk at the WWII Museum on Sundays. Yesterday I had the pleasure of starting to train as a docent (to be able to give tours of the museum). My classmates are kind of a raucous group of adults, but everyone's really enthusiastic!
