Set off from home at 0420, along the freeways then Angeles Crest, began hiking at 0625. The trailhead I chose was at Dawson Saddle, the same trail that heads up to Throop Peak. The sun was rising. Burnham to the left, Baden-Powell to the right. Nice forest as I bypass Mt Burnham. And nice ridge walk too. Rattlesnake Peak (W6/CT-091) down below.

During a normal winter, the road closure would mean a 5 mile hike or snow shoe up the road to the ridge, then a strenuous (and perhaps dangerous) snow shoe hike up the ridge to the summit. With the present lack of snow, the road is open and there is very little snow on the ridge. There is some snow on north facing slopes. I had a nice log to sit on.
