The secret to success is making your vocation your vacation. I am an independent Alaskan fisherman who makes a living from the bounty of Bristol Bay, Alaska. What began as a summer adventure while an Art School student, has turned into a 20 year seasonal career that has given me great pride and freedom in my life. It's hard, wet, cold and tiring work with unique dangers, but it's worth the hardships. I believe and take pride in what I do.

The unique life cycle and spawning ritual of the salmon , the pristine remoteness of Bristol Bay and the evolution of a tightly regulated fishery have resulted in the sustained Sockeye salmon runs of up to 40 million fish per summer season. The future of the Bristol Bay salmon runs are not gauranteed. Proposed large scale pit mining in the Bristol Bay watershed is in conflict with the interest of the fishery, as recently featured on "Frontline" and in "National Geographic".
