One Minnesota Quilter: August 2012

http://www.oneminnesotaquilter.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Common threads of this quilter's life. Saturday, August 18, 2012. All the way to "L" and back. Those of you who have followed me for any length of time know I enjoy reading mysteries. Over the years of quilting I have listened to a number of audio books by Sue Grafton. Author of what is known as the "Alphabet Series" of mysteries. Each book is titled after a letter of the alphabet. A is for. B is for Burglar. C is for Corpse. Etc So far she has written up to and including the letter V. Links to this post.

Common threads of this quilter's life. Thursday, April 11, 2013. It has been a while since I posted. Thank you to those of you who have hung in here with me! In earlier posts I wrote of being in an 1800's group and showed the blocks I was making and exchanging with members of my group. (See Nine Patches under Labels). On Tuesday night we showed our finished quilts at our guild meeting - one year after we started! All of our quilts are quilted and bound! Our exchange parameters for the 9-patches were:.

Nate's Notions: I'm FAT!!!!

http://natesnotions.blogspot.com/2012/01/im-fat.html

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Sorry for not blogging for a while. I'm going to try to blogging more often and about more than just quilting. I've been feeling like my life is a bit out of balance. One reason is that I haven't been exercising or eating right. One of my New Year's resolutions is to lose my extra batting around my middle. Here is a picture of me from about 5 or 6 years ago. Im with you, Nathan!

Cheri Chatter: February 2010

http://cherichatter.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 17, 2010. My sister-in-law sent me this photograph of coffee beans. Supposedly, if your right brain is developed enough, you can see a man in the beans. For real. If you see the man in less than three seconds, your right brain is more developed than most people. If it takes you up to a minute, your brain is normal. Between a minute and three minutes? Once in a while I think I see a mustache, but then it disappears. What does this have to do with quilting? Does anyone else see him?

Cheri Chatter: January 2014

http://cherichatter.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 30, 2014. Last week's finish was a long time coming. Every time I teach a Lone Star class, I make a Lone Star to demonstrate all the steps involved. I learn best by seeing something done, and I think a lot of other people do too. I used similar fabrics (Civil War reproductions) in the first four classes, intending to put all four into one larger quilt. What else are you going to do with a growing pile of small stars? I don't know that many newborns, and one on my wall is enough! Every J...

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Sunday, February 21, 2010. I took a little trip a while back to Lanesboro. MN for a quilt retreat with Cheri, Amy and Judy. Judy has a great posting about the retreat. I had this quilt cut out for quite a while, so it was on my UFO list. The pattern is called Weather Vane. I think it turned out great. I'm going to put it in the non-judged portion of the Minnesota Quilters Show in June. I need a name for it. For the cl...

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Tuesday, December 6, 2011. A Few of My Favorite Things. I've been listening to Christmas music to get in the mood for the holidays. One song I don't quite get making it into the mix is My Favorite Things. Why that song says Christmas, I'm not sure. But it did make me think. I have a few new notions that would be on the list of my favorite quilting things. Since I'm making Tapestry king size. Thursday, December 1, 2011.

http://natesnotions.blogspot.com/2011/11/tapestry-20.html

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Here are the contents of another one of my ArtBins. I purchased the Traditions Tapestry kit. I've already made one kit into Tapestry. And made the other kit into a different quilt. I decided to take some artistic license with the pattern this time around. Instead doing the nine-patches in the pattern. I'm going to do split rails. The first picture is my first block. I'm liking it!

So you've noticed, I'm a male quilter. Really I did make that quilt. Yup all by myself. Thursday, January 26, 2012. I've started making a shop sample of Seasons in a Row. It is a fun sampler quilt with each row representing a different month. Seasons in a Row is the current block of the month at Glad Creations. If you want to do it too, no worries, there is still time to get registered. The snowmen are the row for January. I'm using the kits from Glad Creations. January's kit comes with buttons. Cheri Chatter: Tuesday Friends

http://cherichatter.blogspot.com/2014/05/tuesday-friends.html

Tuesday, May 6, 2014. I haven't blogged about the activities at my Tuesday Friends group for a while. We've been having fun putting the finishing touches on some raffle quilts. We're hoping to raise funds to pay for some supplies that we don't tend to get as donations, like batting and rotary blades. Here's one we did with ugly striped fabrics and a few solids mixed in. We didn't think they were ugly any more after it was put together with sashing and borders. Now we all want it! And finally, here's Mary...

Thursday, February 17, 2011. The One Minute Manager Notes. People who feel about themselves produce good results. The best way to achieve both of these results is through people (quality and quality). Take a minute to relax. Praise people when they do a good job. Tell people how good you feel when they do something right. Shake hands or tough people in a way that makes it clear that you support there their success. Let them know how they are doing. Tell people what they did wrong. View my complete profile.
