ONE STEP CLOSER is a running group for individuals exiting homelessness. Its mission is to make running and the benefits thereof accessible to everyone. Although there are many services available to individuals exiting homelessness, opportunities for physical fitness lack. In February 2010, a group of friends and avid runners chose to fill this gap and created ONE STEP CLOSER, a nonprofit running program designed to ramp up participants to running distances of 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and beyond.
