My life and adventures in food, crafting, parenthood and more. Making my way…. I know it’s been all sewing all the time around here, lately. I have been doing some knitting and other crafting which I’m going to try to share this week, but all of this sewing has gotten me thinking about challenging myself in some new ways. There are a couple of projects I’ve watched with interest for a while and I think I’m going to play along with them this year! First off is Me-Made-May. This leads me to Seam Allowance.

My life and adventures in food, crafting, parenthood and more. Last year, when shopping for my sketch book for Lisa Congdon’s Creativebug class. I bought Cameron one, too. He was with me and I thought it would be fun for him to have a place to draw. Little did I know that he would want to take the class with me after seeing me doing it one day. He didn’t take it with me completely, but he did sit down with me and draw along a few times. Recently, he asked me, mom, where is my sketchbook . I find classes ...

My life and adventures in food, crafting, parenthood and more. June wasn’t a particularly crafty month for me, other than my trip to Squam, but I’m getting my craft mojo back preparing for Craftmas in July. This idea was born from the fact that we all want to do Christmas and holiday crafts around the holidays, but that’s when you have the least time, so we’re trying to get a head start this year. I am hoping to make some decorations for my house and some cute things to put on presents. I bought some car...

My life and adventures in food, crafting, parenthood and more. Posted in Sewing and Quilting. When I saw the Endless Summer Tunic. Pattern, I knew I wanted to make it, and it looked like an easy enough place for me to start with making some garments for myself. I’ve made shirts for the boys, and halloween costumes for them, but I haven’t succeeded at sewing myself anything that I actually wear. I started this Wednesday and worked on it here and there, hemming it this morning. Buy Me Some Peanuts and̷...

A sporadically updated blog that encompasses many creative activities. 8220;Brighton Lace Doily” from “Knitting For Your Home”. Start date: 1 March 2005. Finish date: 5 March 2005. Yarn: Rebekah Quick Crochet #8 mercerised cotton in Pink. Needle size: As many #0s and #1s as I could find, plus some bamboo skewers shaved down to size. By the end, over a dozen double-points were involved in the doily. Yikes. April 15, 2005 @ 3:53 pm. Feed for comments on this post. Some blogs worth reading.

A sporadically updated blog that encompasses many creative activities. Apparently, I did not do a good job of pinning this out to be round. Yarn: #10 crochet cotton. Start date: 22 July ’05. Finish date: 24 July ’05. Size: about 10″ across. Slap me upside the head. On this doily, I didn’t even attempt to chart it along the way. Lace on every row and double yarnovers… I need to practice reading written patterns, don’t I. Yeah, definitely not large enough for a Fritty bed. Just the really nice ones.).

A sporadically updated blog that encompasses many creative activities. FO – Syvstjernen. Pattern – Syvstjernen. Start Date – 31 August. Finish date – 9 September. Yarn – #10 crochet thread. Needles – 2.5mm Addis. Finished size – about 25″ across. Here’s the doily on the kitchen table, straight off the needles…. Anyway, the center doesn’t look much different after blocking, but the final few rounds are definitely happier. Wow, blocking also created better lighting! I tried the tape-measure-across-doily tr...
Craftmas in July | LittleWit's Crafty Adventure
http://blog.halfacregoods.com/2014/07/01/craftmas-in-july
LittleWit's Crafty Adventure. Oh the crafting we will do. Dry Spell →. Tuesday, 1 July 2014. Posted over on her blog a week or two ago about a plan she cooked up with Sarah. They’re going to work on holiday projects in July so by the holidays they’ll have awesome homemade decor. Since I’ve been on such a quilting tear lately this immediately sounded like a great idea. Then of course I remembered the Tour de Fleece. Any other color ideas? Do you have plans to partake in Craftmas in July? Rockin'. I ea...

Little Hills: July 2013

The start of a rebellion. Published by The Hill Family on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1:17 PM. I'm inspired by my amazing sis-in-law who keeps her blog current at all times! I check her site weekly, hoping for an update on my sweet nephews, and I'm almost always rewarded with a new post full of precious photos of the faces I don't get to kiss often enough. Her blog also serves as a reminder that mine is terribly out of date. I could give you a list of. However, tonight is the start of a rebellion! The next...

Star Wars and Snow. Published by The Hill Family on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 12:11 PM. HOWEVER, despite the mild winter, we have had some snow and the kids have been quick to take advantage of it, happily playing with the neighborhood kids. Brody loved the piles the snow plows accumulated at the ends of the parking lots the best. We did go sledding on our really fun hill - once - though the kids used the sleds on the snow plow piles quite a bit. We also had some beautiful sunsets in January. We order...
Little Hills: November 2011

Published by The Hill Family on Tuesday, November 01, 2011 at 8:55 PM. So much for being caught up on the blog! I feel like I blinked and a month flew by! We had fun decorating our pumpkins (with paint) for Halloween. The kids are both in AWANA and the Wednesday before Halloween, the theme night was ‘crazy hair’. Brody was determined he needed clown hair for the event, and thankfully, with it being close to Halloween, we were able to find a clown wig! It was a cute event! They played Halloween music thro...

In a New York Minute. Published by The Hill Family on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 8:07 PM. I think the entire month of March managed to disappear. In a New York minute'! It was a busy month, but filled with fun! Brody's preschool celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday the first week of the month, and Brody asked if we could make green eggs and ham at home - thankfully our 'green' breakfast tasted better than it looked! Our anniversary fell over Billy's spring break, and the week was a nice reprieve from his hect...

My life and adventures in food, crafting, parenthood and more. March 6, 2017. I’ve been very slowly working toward a more handmade wardrobe for myself. I took this fabric pile picture at least a year ago, and have only used one fabric from that pile since then. I’m hoping in 2017, I can pick up the pace a bit. A couple of weeks ago I sat down and made … Continue reading →. Craftmas in July: Ornaments! June 30, 2016. April 14, 2016. Five Things on Friday. April 8, 2016. One Stitch Wonder
A little blog about my early days as a quilter. Started to make it more fun being part of a virtual quilting bee. but we'll see if I've got more than one trick. Monday, September 20, 2010. Oh Beehave packages all sent off. It was a big task to chop all that fabric and figure out exactly what my instructions would be. but it was very satisfying to put all those envelopes in the mail this morning! Hope you have fun with it. Saturday, September 18, 2010. Here are two tutorials that have some good ideas abou...
