Monday, September 1, 2008. Sat 23 and Sun 24 Aug 08. Wattle everywhere. Cold in the water now. Hands get cold fast. We all sit there tucking them under our armpits. Haven’t seen many gloves (only one pair all winter). A few hoods but my head’s never felt that cold. Back after 2 weekends not down here. Not a lot of surf happening. Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Sat 13 September 08. Two surfs today. Report not promising but when I went out at about 8 there were nice swells and a strong northerly. Urquhart’s not good but went out at Fairhaven at Pole House. Clean 3 to 4 foot. Waves faster and steeper than Urquhart’s but I held on and had some good rides. I apologised but he was cool about it.
