Like a Polar Bear in Africa: August 2007

http://onhumanconditions.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Like a Polar Bear in Africa. Notes from a Scandinavian in West Africa. Wednesday, 15 August 2007. As expected the guys in the market could not find any Depeche Mode, and since they asked if it was American (please! The joy, the relief, I was speechless, especially since I got a CD with their pimped music video on for a little more than 2 USD. Yeah, the small wonders of existence. Http:/ www.kewego.co.uk/player/? Saturday, 11 August 2007. Http:/ lagos.osac.gov/Reports/index.cfm. We roll into the metal gat...

http://onhumanconditions.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Like a Polar Bear in Africa. Notes from a Scandinavian in West Africa. Tuesday, 31 July 2007. Travelled by car to Niamey and Maradi in Niger and returning to Cotonou in 4 days. Avoided malaria despite getting so many mosquito bites that Í for a moment considered a blood transfusion (I optimistically believed in the urban legend saying that after 200 mosquito bites you would be immune to the itching poison.trust me, it's wrong). Travelled into Lagos (Nigeria) with an armed guard. Beninese and Nigerien cul...

Like a Polar Bear in Africa: Lagos

http://onhumanconditions.blogspot.com/2007/08/lagos.html

Like a Polar Bear in Africa. Notes from a Scandinavian in West Africa. Saturday, 11 August 2007. So, this week I was fortunate enough to spend some days in lovely Cape Town on a business trip which by most measures feels like being on leave into western capitalism when you arrive from west Africa. Don't get me wrong, life is sweet here in good ol' Benin, but having a few days with the world's best steak and wine, real freeways with properly marked lanes (! Welcome to the jungle. You'll take it eventually.

Like a Polar Bear in Africa. Notes from a Scandinavian in West Africa. Sunday, 4 November 2007. A travel to the end of the old world (Part V, Bordering insanity or how to enter Ukraine). 1) no patience, you have ADHD and get frustrated when things are not changing every 2 minutes. 2) expectational patience, you are patient as long as things are evolving as fast as physically possible. Like a Polar Bear in Africa: A travel to the end of the old world (Part III, ferry boats and fairy tales)

http://onhumanconditions.blogspot.com/2007/10/travel-to-end-of-old-world-part-iii.html

Like a Polar Bear in Africa. Notes from a Scandinavian in West Africa. Monday, 22 October 2007. A travel to the end of the old world (Part III, ferry boats and fairy tales). Was probably a better representation of us than the image of savvy fuel traders looking for arbitrage opportunities. Sigh, it is getting late of hour, so I will return to our little predicament next time and elaborate on how we made it to Ukraine. 30 October 2007 at 19:41. Cheap NFL Jerseys Paypal. there ain't no compass fit for infinity & other such observations: July 2008

http://wickedsure.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Happily, the wasps seem to have developed a better sense of direction. but there's always something, isn't there? Now we are experiencing a minor rebellion from our kitchen cooling appliances. This is africa. there are bugs. I ask myself. Entering the kitchen after dark must be done with caution, and an open window might as well be an open invitation. My only solace is that at least it isn't mould.

http://wickedsure.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Over the past few days I've found myself thinking often about the employees at. For those who don't know,. But enough about the sausages. If you don't believe me, you can ask a Dane about them. That'll give you an objective opinion on the matter for sure ;) But seriously, the original point of this post was about. And the people that keep it going. And an african update. And I reached the end thinking,...

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. It's Saturday evening and I've just returned home from the horse club. I still smell like a barn animal, but I've decided to write a little before I take a long, well-earned bath. I need to tell you about the horses. For those uninterested in these, the most beautiful animals in the world, don't waste your time reading any further. Q: When Does 3 0 = 0? Don't we just love the rainy season? Truthfully, ...

there ain't no compass fit for infinity & other such observations: feeling disconnected

http://wickedsure.blogspot.com/2008/08/feeling-disconnected.html

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Thank goodness for the internet. At least I can read the news online, but too bad all the articles I'm reading are on things like how the Opening Ceremony fireworks were faked and so on. Well, I can honestly say that they didn't look particularly authentic or fake to me. But surely I can find some video coverage online? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Because there's no compass. http://wickedsure.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. I remember thinking, as a kid, that fireflies didn't look much like fire at all. And the name lightening bug didn't really fit either as I had seen just about as much green lightening in my life as I had green fire. The thing is, in New England, or at least in New Hampshire, fireflies cast off a pale greenish-yellow glow, not a. Be fire. And then I realised, it was African fireflies. Will It Never End?

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Q: why did the chicken cross the road? A: To get run over by the motorbike. With so many chickens about, it was always a case of when. Only half the story. As it turns out, all that business about mould and termites. Was only half the story. The real disappointment, the thing that launched the weekend straight past plain bad and into the realm of the absolutely miserable, was what didn't. The rest of t...

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. By mold. There is mold everywhere - inside the kitchen cabinets, in the closets, on our shoes, growing on our clothes. Yuk! I can't exactly soak that in bleach! But it's not just mold that plagues our Cotonou residence. There are the ants. Tiny little reddish-brown ants by the thousands that go marching one by one,. The net is supposed to keep them out, not trap them inside. I think it would would ...

http://wickedsure.blogspot.com/2008/08/like-poisoned-apple.html

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Like a poisoned apple. The container carrying all of our stuff arrived last Friday, full of promise. After two months of the extreme minimalist lifestyle, we welcomed the arrival of our possessions with glee. Unfortunately the joy was short-lived. Once we started opening the boxes and tearing the cardboard off the furniture it became clear that we had got more than we'd bargained for. Only half the sto...

There ain't no compass fit for infinity and other such observations. A BLOG ABOUT MY CRAZY LIFE ABROAD. Where did you come from, where did you go? The street people are gone. They packed up and left. Gone. Just like that. The dirt road in front of our house is empty - empty but for a few heaps of trash still burning, the only evidence they left behind. Foul-smelling smoke permeates the neighbourhood and forces our windows shut. Even then I can still smell it. Did the children get to bring their toys?

Yrityksen Facebook-sivulla vain muutama sata tykkääjää ja lisää pitäisi saada. Onko hyvä idea ostaa lisää tykkääjiä? Facebook-tykkäysten ostaminen on huono idea. Saturday, July 25, 2015. Paleo diets are in vogue these days. Always wanting to be “in with the in-crowd”, and needing to lose a few pounds, I’m giving it a try and have the following observations to share. This dovetails nicely with my earlier posts regarding populations of the genus Homo during the Paleolithic era, especially what they ate. Accordingly, I’ll start by putting the modern conception of a Paleo diet in proper context. Homo erectus lived from over a million years ago (earliest specimen 1&#4...

The people whose lives and work inspire you are talking- this very minute- about the things that give life meaning. Overhear is about listening in on those conversations, capturing dialogue between people whose hard work and passion bring about the things that make life interesting, exciting, and beautiful. The dialogues are unscripted and unvarnished, just like life.

Welcome

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.". Arthur Schopenhauer - German philosopher (1788 - 1860). As a starting point we wish to acknowledge the enormous contribution of Harvard Zoologist, Edward O. Wilson in his seminal work On Human Nature. This book, more than any other on the subject, has inspired us to continue this investigation; and so we choose its title as our domain name. It is simply recognitio...
