Snippety Gibbet: Spooning
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/04/spooning.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2015. This past week I finished Spoonula 3 and carved another spoon for a friend. There have been no big wood mishaps in the last week. The only problem is that I can't stop thinking about wanting to carve. I wake up at night thinking about it. Spoonulas 2 and 3 were carved out of a board of Ambrosia Maple. I love the color of this after I oiled it. Gorgeous! Carving dried boards is like carving brick though. Wow, that was tough on my hands. You are a speed learner Jan! Subscribe to: ...

Snippety Gibbet: Loving to Carve Love Spoons
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/07/loving-to-carve-love-spoons.html
Thursday, July 2, 2015. Loving to Carve Love Spoons. I spent many hours in carving bliss while working on this Love Spoon. At the very end I gave it a little sanding, but most of the smoothing out was done with a knife tip. It was happily meditative. This spoon was carved out of sycamore and I just drew a pattern on it that seemed to fit the wood. PS Im LOVING my spoon. :D. July 2, 2015 at 5:38 PM. July 3, 2015 at 7:15 AM. Snippety Gibbet: Return of Spoonula
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/03/return-of-spoonula.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. I honestly do not mind my carving mess ups at this point in my learning. There are so many things I learn from the mistakes. My first spoonula was carved out of a fallen sycamore limb that I found. The mistake in that one was that I carved one spot of it paper thin. So, when I carved the next one, I tried so hard to not carve it too thin. This one was carved out of Ambrosia Maple. See the board under it? March 31, 2015 at 12:45 PM. Snippety Gibbet: Carving Out Time
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/05/carving-out-time.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. This morning I woke up at 5 am I was excited to have slept that late. If I wake up before 4:30, I have to make myself stay in bed when what I want to do is race downstairs to start carving. With so much practice time in, I can now complete a nice spoon in a day. Sometimes I also get a very green piece of wood and carve a second one. This is still the thing that I want to be doing all hours of the day and night. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Snippety Gibbet: Carved and Done
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/05/carved-and-done.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. So this spoon took about five hours tops. It was carved from beech wood. I love how the color darkened once it got oiled. Now I have work to do around the house. Carving is a great way to procrastinate. May 19, 2015 at 12:13 PM. I love how your heart sings when you talk about your carving. I think any time spent with such love, joy and devotion is time well spent. Carry on! May 25, 2015 at 4:52 PM. Thank you, friends! May 26, 2015 at 8:00 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Snippety Gibbet: Love Spoon
https://snippetygibbet.blogspot.com/2015/06/love-spoon.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. It's been raining all day long here in Northern Virginia. What a great opportunity to go down to Snippyville and practice new carving techniques. There is a genre of carved spoons called "love spoons." They can be quite elaborate. Here is my first foray into it. It is pretty simple, but carving it was challenging enough to be entertaining. I think its beautiful. your doing a fabulous job with your carving. Happy Sunday. June 28, 2015 at 10:15 AM. July 2, 2015 at 9:32 PM. Ms Motta...
