AnnaDotes: August 2008
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
August 22, 2008. Typhoon Nuri is on the way. It's getting exciting, y'all. From the Hong Kong Observatory. The No. 8 Northwest Gale or Storm Signal is in force. This means that winds with mean speeds of 63 kilometers per hour or more are expected from the northwest quarter. Gales are already affecting many places in the territory. Local winds are expected to increase further.". It's pretty windy in my part of town, but there's not much rain. It is, however, expected to get much worse. Usually, Ho...A fri...

AnnaDotes: Letting the world in
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2009/04/letting-world-in.html
April 29, 2009. Letting the world in. After a rather blunt reminder that demon summer is on its way, Hong. Kong has had a run of rather glorious weather. (Well, at least on the days I’m working. Naturally, it pours on my days off.) Last year at this time, I remember it already being uncomfortably sticky, though not yet blazing hot. But these days? They feel like November. And so, to celebrate, I turned off the air conditioner and opened the windows wide. The first few nights, it wasn. After what felt lik...

AnnaDotes: September 2008
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
September 27, 2008. It was one Friday night where I was seriously looking forward to going home and crawling into bed with a book. I’d just finished a six-day week, and I’d gone straight to the office from the airport after a very fun, very exhausting three-day weekend. (More on that trip soon; I’m still toning photos.) Then a coworker announces that she’s heading to Shek O to meet friends and eat Thai food. Did any of us want to join? I think I could even see stars. Links to this post. But very soon, I&...

AnnaDotes: September 2009
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
September 1, 2009. When I told the cab driver my destination, he shook his head and clucked a bit. Water main break in Wan Chai. He said. "Lots of traffic.". That explained the traffic jam outside my apartment - on a street that maybe sees a dozen cars in a busy hour. The line of taxis was already stretching toward the hospital when I left for my yoga class at 9:15. When I came home two and a half hours later, the line was even longer. Where the water main has broken. The traffic slows to a crawl. A shor...

AnnaDotes: December 2008
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
December 25, 2008. From my home to yours. Best wishes in this holiday season. Nothing says it better than skyscrapers. Links to this post. December 13, 2008. The building management has kindly posted a giant sign next to the elevator in my apartment building. Its purpose: Help residents prevent fire and theft (which, according to the sign, are more common during the holidays and through to Lunar New Year). One, however, leaves me quite puzzled:. Surely, bad music sung badly would keep the burglars away.

AnnaDotes: October 2008
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
October 30, 2008. So, things have been a bit crazy since I got back from the Mainland last Friday. A better blogger than I would have told you all about it by now, but you're stuck with me: the girl who has barely unzipped her suitcase. What, you expected photos, already? I'm a bit occupied at the moment fighting off a plague of ants. The one thing I did get accomplished this week: I voted. I didn't fashion a voting booth in my shower using a pirate flag like somebody. Links to this post. October 3, 2008.

AnnaDotes: This is what I get
http://annadotes.blogspot.com/2009/08/this-is-what-i-get.html
August 25, 2009. This is what I get. Why did I ever switch to a digital camera? Is it any wonder I still have pictures from China that I took last October sitting in iPhoto? Not to mention pictures from trips to Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Maybe the problem isn't that I started using a digital camera. Maybe the problem is that I travel too damn much. If I stayed home more often, I certainly wouldn't have this problem! At Mt Batur and one of a salad. What sites sent them to me. I think the prob...
