https://onondagacutoff.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Preparation and construction of a basement-sized, HO-scale model railroad based on Conrail's operations through Central New York on the Chicago Line in 1994. Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Context, Details, and Maintenance Equipment. One of the things that working for a railroad can give you is lots of opportunity to observe the machines and people that make a railroad work - besides the trains! Here's a few shots of the current fleet at rest at the office. First is a shot showing the rest of that area, w...
Conrail's Onondaga Cutoff: Marking the Rear End
https://onondagacutoff.blogspot.com/2015/07/marking-rear-end.html
Preparation and construction of a basement-sized, HO-scale model railroad based on Conrail's operations through Central New York on the Chicago Line in 1994. Monday, July 6, 2015. Marking the Rear End. For the hind end, though, lighting wasn't the only thing required. Marker lights were still needed. I therefore purchased a set of Miniatronics red surface-mount LED's pre-wired with leads, and included resistors to get the light to the correct intensity. The results are worth it! Marking the Rear End.

Preparation and construction of a basement-sized, HO-scale model railroad based on Conrail's operations through Central New York on the Chicago Line in 1994. Saturday, May 23, 2015. Here's a video for your enjoyment - Conrail train COSE, behind recently activated C39-8 6002, comes to the top of the grade at CP 282 south of Syracuse, NY, as it heads east towards Selkirk. The 6002 is a beautiful model of a General Electric C39-8 locomotive that I was able to get thanks to J. Alex Lang.

Preparation and construction of a basement-sized, HO-scale model railroad based on Conrail's operations through Central New York on the Chicago Line in 1994. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Well, a scene is never really finished - there's always something that can be adjusted or added! That said, a quick post is in order now that I have added some foreground scenery and ground cover at CP-282, to compliment the backdrop work highlighted in the last entry below. Friday, April 10, 2015. A chilly, slow spring seas...

NSW Rail Rambler: October 2014
http://nswrailrambler.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
A collection of photographs and stories from five decades of train chasing. Friday, October 24, 2014. Travels with and in Uncle Sam. Over nearly a hundred posts on this blog I think I may have displayed a fairly parochial view of railways. To recompense, it may be time to display a broader horizon, starting with my various travels in the United States of America. This was my first train trip in the States - 3 January 1991 on the Texas Eagle. Over the next eight days I travelled from Texas to Chicago,...

A collection of photographs and stories from five decades of train chasing. Friday, July 31, 2015. Went down to the local station this morning to watch the star attraction of the NSW heritage railway scene steam by on its way to Botany. Anyway, before I load up this morning's proceedings, here's a couple of 60 classes in revenue service in 1966/67. Both at Campbelltown, both on coal trains. First up, 6002, in February 1966. Now just check out those cars behind 6016! Saturday, July 25, 2015. It even got a...

http://nswrailrambler.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A collection of photographs and stories from five decades of train chasing. Sunday, December 7, 2014. Twenty years ago yesterday the NSW State Rail Authority auctioned locomotives which were deigned to be either at the end of their service life and/or surplus to current and anticipated requirements. In what became known as the Great Loco Auction. Another to survive the two decades through a series of (ahem) novel liveries has been 4488. It was purchased for a meagre $17,000. Currently it sits in ...CD re...

Michigan Interstate St. Clair Sub. An inside look at the planning, construction, and operation of my 10x12 double deck HO scale model railroad set in current day Mid-Michigan. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Good Bye 2014 / Hello 2015. From a model railroad perspective alot of progress has been made on the layout, modeler friendships created, kept the blog pretty well updated, and began sharing my layout with others through informal operating sessions. Here's to the new year! Saturday, December 27, 2014.

Penn Central's Connection to Canada in HO Scale. International Paper North Tonawanda. October 9, 2016. October 10, 2016. The power plant at International Paper in North Tonawanda burned coal, and the company stockpiled coal next to the employee parking lot, so I intend to model the inbound coal loads on my layout. I have no photos of coal hoppers moving into or out of the plant, so I’m forced to guess at what that would have looked like. Cambria and Indiana Railroad. Penn Central Rolling Stock Photos.
