Sunday, July 31, 2011. Kayaking in the Calanques. Dear Family and Friends,. Swells in the Mediterranean. Nicolas took the front seat and did a very good job rowing, even when the seas were rough. The week he spent doing water sports at scout camp the prior week really helped build his confidence. Friends Matt and Weston did a good job exploring all of the crevices in the rocks. Since we passed the Fourth passed without too much fanfare, we decided instead to celebrate Bastille Day on the 14th of July. Bastille Day celebrates the end of the monarchy and the beginning of democracy in France by remembering the storming of the prison in Paris.
