Three weeks into the journey, pioneers reached Fort Kearney. This fort was built in 1848 and was the first military post to protect the emigrants that are traveling West. When pioneers reached South Pass, they had just about traveled half way to Oregon. South Pass was 913 miles and it's elevation was about 7,750 feet. Leaving Independence, Missouri. Independence, Missouri was founded in 1827. By the 1840's Independence was the most popular jumping off point for the pioneers. The families came to Independence with all of their supplies for the journey ahead. Many people were sad to say goodbye to family members that were not going.

It's a nice weight, the brushed metal feels nice, and it's the most reliable stapler I've ever met. One day I'd like to have one on my desk but the $74.
