Saturday, October 30, 2010. Thank you to Teacher Salary Info-. This blog was chosen as one of the top Art Teaching Blogs! Sorry I'm not around much this year. Oodles of Art: November 2009
http://oodlesofart.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 22, 2009. Thankful Turkeys, 1st-4th grade. I taught the students how to draw the turkey that was posted on Art Projects For Kids. Which was a great base for lots of turkey-projects), and then gave them a variety of materials to use. I love the one posted directly below, because they chose to add textured grass by doing tissue-paper grass. They all turned out really cute, and the kids always love learning something new to draw and add to their book of "can-do's". Katie @ Loves of Life.
Oodles of Art: Spring Butterflies, 1st Grade
http://oodlesofart.blogspot.com/2010/03/spring-butterflies-1st-grade.html
Monday, March 22, 2010. Spring Butterflies, 1st Grade. I actually got inspiration to draw this butterfly from one of my 1st grader's shirts last year. It had the prettiest butterfly on it, that was a very simple line drawing. I decided to teach my 1st graders how to draw it (again, this year! And then we added lots of different line designs using our sharpies of course. The students were to color the butterfly with markers, trying to keep two of the same colors away from each other. Sunday, December 20, 2009. Nutcrackers, 3rd Grade. I was struggling with what to do with my 3rd graders this year for the holiday, and then stumbled upon this lesson on drawing a nutcracker. It was a HIT. The kids loved it.and I LOVED the results! My students used rulers, and did not use tracers. This way, all the results were varied. Katie @ Loves of Life. How to draw Santa, 1st Grade. Last year I posted this. I got this lesson from a great friend of mine who teaches Elementary Art. Katie @ Loves of Life.
Oodles of Art: Create your own Cartoon Characters, 3rd Grade
http://oodlesofart.blogspot.com/2010/03/create-your-own-cartoon-characters-3rd.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Create your own Cartoon Characters, 3rd Grade. The kids ate this project up. I really had NO idea. How much they would love creating their own cartoon characters! I have a worksheet that a previous teacher left (looks like it was scanned from a book, maybe? That has some ideas of eyes, noses, mouths, heads and bodies of characters. It helps to get the kids started. They are free to use their own ideas, too-in fact, it's encouraged. Then, they have to choose their favorite 4.

Homemade Mumma: May 2014
http://homemademumma.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Gettin' creative, saving money and the planet - party on! Sunday, 18 May 2014. We recently took Newbie on his very first camping trip. Geekling is an old hand at camping and really enjoys it. A think a few folks thought we were mad taking a baby camping but it was fine overall. He flat our refused all packet purees we'd packed, so the little guy lived on rice cakes and baby rice rusks, a lot of extra breastmilk and little tastes of our food. His temporary diet didn't seem to phase him though. Here's a ra...

A look inside the art room at Herod Elementary School.where ALL kids are artists! Art Comes Alive Every Day at Herod Elementary! Tuesday, December 7, 2010. 5th Grade Oil Pastel Owls. I have loved watching my 5th graders study and draw these amazing owls. They drew from a photograph, part of our "drawing from observation" unit. I don't usually do drawing from photos, and I would have rather been at the zoo drawing, but this is the next best thing! They then drew their owl on black paper with white chalk.

Sunday, February 20, 2011. Warm/Cool Color Name Designs, 3rd/4th Grade. This is a simple and fun way to teach contour or echo lines, and also teach some simple warm and cool colors. Start with a 9x12 piece of paper. Have the student write their name in the center. I prefer cursive. Then, with a ruler draw a slanted line that goes THROUGH your name evenly. Have the students pick three warm colors, and three cool colors.then color in a pattern. Warm on one side, cool on the other. Katie @ Loves of Life.

oodles of books
Mar 9, 2018. This has been a long time coming, and I didn't even know it. I have been trying for the l ast two or so years. To keep up with my blogging, and catch up. With reviews and all that stuff. But what I failed to realize is that I don't want to. Do that anymore. This blog has been a part of my life since 2009 and I still love it. Very much. It was my place to talk about books when I had no one else, and it has been where I can share my own thoughts on books. Feb 12, 2018. When Dimple Met Rishi.
