this is my life as a...grad student: Battle Scars
http://verntc.blogspot.com/2009/02/battle-scars.html
This is my life as a.grad student. Monday, February 16, 2009. Was wiggling and crazed and continued to cry hysterically for at least a minute. When we finally calmed him down we found a cut on his lower eyelid and the top of his head. The lab had chomped him and he was lucky he did not lose an eye! I woke up this morning confident that we would have no accidents and i would actually be able to get some writing done at home while he peacefully slept in the kennel. While I was preparing his breakfast, ...

This is my life as a.grad student. Monday, April 6, 2009. Sage's mom just re-did her cabin on the lake so we decided to escape the city and head up there. It was so super nice with a fantastic view of the lake from her deck. His mom, sister and cousin joined us on Saturday. It was Bill's first mountain trip too and we had plans to do some hiking along Deep Creek. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Morales Family In Maine. Jeremy's blog about sandwiches. this is my life as a...grad student: March 2009
http://verntc.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
This is my life as a.grad student. Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Last weekend we spent hours each day at Fiesta Island dog park with Bill. He loved running through the tall grass but was less sure about the water at the shoreline. He finally gave up trying to get in the water (or get us out) and just sat forlornly. Still, each day he was tired out enough to be cooperative about wearing his car harness. It has become an essential tool for keeping me on the road! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

This is my life as a.grad student. Monday, November 24, 2008. Sage fell in love with the stone plant (Lithops) which feels like puppy paws (when you rub your face around in them, as he discovered). I just found a nursery near SD that may have Lithops too so we are going to take another vegetation field trip soon! The boys with our cacti. And a few gratuitous dog molestation photos.sorry jake and jen. Wishing you all a little roast bird in your week. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Morales Family In Maine.

This is my life as a.grad student. Friday, September 26, 2008. But what about the poor students who hate to read? Okay, in terms of how much material there is to cover in class; it's just fine, but you could do a bit more for everyone by slowing down. It's not that the material is confusing, or what you are saying is confusing, it's just that all you have to do is read what is already written down on your power point lecture. The student goes on to suggest a new lecture strategy:. Now, as far as the read...

this is my life as a...grad student: WARNING: more gratuitous puppy shots under the guise of my birthday
http://verntc.blogspot.com/2009/02/warning-more-gratuitous-puppy-shots.html
This is my life as a.grad student. Tuesday, February 24, 2009. WARNING: more gratuitous puppy shots under the guise of my birthday. That night we celebrated early with Jake and Jen in LA and some more local folks. We got to hang out with the Bliss baby and I held her for at least 20 minutes without making her cry, quite a feat! Nina made me the most fabulous chocolate raspberry cake, which sage thoroughly kept enjoying through the early morning hours! Next weekend we may tackle our taxes.

This is my life as a.grad student. Monday, February 25, 2008. Back to the 80s.sort of. Roller derby is awesome! These ladies are not only amazingly skilled skaters but they have an uncanny ability to balance the savagely brutal interactions required on the rink with graceful charm expected by all ladies (in some circles at least, see this site for more information on the topic http:/ bucket-o-hank.blogspot.com/2008/01. This is my life as a.grad student. Monday, June 16, 2008. Just got back from a fabulous action-packed vacation for which I spent the first weekend in Yosemite camping with Mariah, Toni, Tracey and Linnea and the second week in Seattle with little dude, mom and Sage. Here are some pics of the whole affair. First day: hike along the river with views of El Capitan. Second day: hike up to Nevada Falls via the Mist trail just under the half dome. Next day after acquiring some of seattle's finest gas station c...

This is my life as a.grad student. Sunday, August 17, 2008. Respit from the left coast. Sage and I headed east last week for a vacation split between extreme urban NYC mayhem and calm new england beach town living. We saw ben harper in jersey city which involved Sage's first experience with the subway. A few times during his first couple songs. Ben ignored her. It was great to be back there in that NYC vibe where everyone is just a little bit miserable but carries on. And of course we had to make one mor...
