That is the question! Notification is presently an encoded WAP-push message, sent as a binary SMS, via an SMSC. This is a get around method, because the WAP-push functionality is not yet available in Kannel s open-source WAP-gateway, which OpenMMS intends to implement. The specifications for MMS require a WAP-push for notifying the receiver. The background for this project is to generate interest in the development of an MMS-implementation within the OpenSource environment. The implementation will take place in accordance with the recognised specifications of the 3GPP global initiative, WAP-Forum and Open Mobile Aliance. The project idea was instigated, and later presented to our group, by Tore Storødegård, founder of the computing company Mobinor/Mobic.
