Possibilities | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/possibilities
The Signs Are Everywhere. What a Vote Can Do. What we would like you to imagine is the election of at least seven strong willed, independent representatives of the voters of Stratford. With seven votes, a Council can make a mayor almost irrelevant. We would also like you to imagine what that could mean to voters/taxpayers. An independent forensic audit of the Town’s books which would include the Board of Education. Conversion of the Town Attorney’s position to a salaried position. Feed for this Entry.

How to Raise Taxes | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/06/08/how-to-raise-taxes
The Fight to Vote. How to Raise Taxes. Step 1: Find a journalist that will print anything you say without question. Step 2: Say that the world will come to an end unless you raise taxes and fees. Step 3: Deny any responsibility by blaming someone else. Step 4: Blame “they” or “them” for layoffs, service cuts, higher taxes and anything else you can think of. Step 5: Try to look like you’re doing the right thing by making the entire population suffer the consequences of your blundering. Feed for this Entry.

Time to Change Methods. It’s a Brick Wall, Silly. Both the Town and the BOE proposed budgets have been released. Mayor Responds To Voters | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/mayor-responds-to-voters
The Fight to Vote. Mayor Responds To Voters. In a stunning denial of any belief in democracy, Mayor John Harkins rejected out of hand the voters right to petition the government. We have been commenting upon Town politics for nearly ten years. That is a lot of slime and muck to wade through. But we have never witnessed such a blatant disregard for the will of the voter, taxpayers and businesses in Stratford. Never. This, my neighbors, is outrageous! Newer posts ». Pass the KY Stratford Taxpayers, the Screwing Continues! November, just six months ago. How fast some new members of the Town Council forgot their promises and really gave the taxpayers a screwing, and again, no KY! Along with you Councilmen Vincent Chase, Allan Llewelyn, Phil Young and Dave Harden. We’re going to have to deal with so much more “bloat” over the next year and I wonder how many more “for sale” signs will be popping up over the next few weeks! I won’t even say months, b...

Stratford Democracy | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/02/23/stratford-democracy
Tidal Wave of Council Activity. The latest ploy by our Council Chairman and mayor was to conduct “Executive Sessions” of the Town Council/WPCA (They are the same thing, you know.) out of view of the public to decide whether to steal $5 million from the WPCA cash reserve or to just sell the most expensive asset the Town owns. Both items raise serious questions about fiscal management. The first question is how did $5.2 million accumulate in a cash reserve? How can that be? But the second item on the agend...

Tidal Wave of Council Activity | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/02/01/tidal-wave-of-council-activity
Tidal Wave of Council Activity. What does this mean? It means that the Sewer Use Fees that we have been paying cannot be used to subsidize Town-wide expenses like pensions, Public Works, the General Fund or shortages in the Town budget. You know, like Harkins has been doing for the last five. Yes, since Harkins was elected mayor, sewer fees have steadily been going up. At first the flimsy excuse was to make the fees competitive with surrounding Towns. (AYFKM? And then there is Eminent Domain. Rest as...

Magical Solutions | Stratford Politics

To regionalize is by far the best benefit for the taxpayers, Harkins said. Http:/ www.stratfordstar.com/34630/residents-not-supportive-of-proposed-wpca-regionalization/. We have to admit that it doesn’t sound like “abracadabra” or “voila! 8221;, but it means the same thing. Nothing, and we do mean nothing, Harkins has said or written contains the slightest hint of benefit for Stratford taxpayers and residents. In fact, his own numbers suggest an extremely negative impact of the future of Stratford. The a...

Residents Sold Out! | Stratford Politics
https://stratfordcharter.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/residents-sold-out
In one of the worst financial deals imaginable, the Mayor and Council have sold out each and every Stratford resident and business. During one of the most important votes in the 375 year history of Stratford, some Councilmen could barely be heard mumbling “aye” to sell the WPCA/Sewer plant for peanuts. Thankfully, these votes are recorded so that we can identify precisely who sold us out. Peter Massey, (R). Brian Dempsey, (R). James J. Connor, Jr. (R). Jason W. Santi (D). Feed for this Entry.
