Open University: The M255 exam
http://openthirst.blogspot.com/2009/06/m255-exam.html
A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Friday, 19 June 2009. What advice would I give to the younger me regarding study for this course if I could go back in time? And did almost all of them under exam conditions. I struggled with some of the part two questions for all of the papers so I put a lot of effort in to practicing and understanding all the coding concepts, admittedly I only really did this in the week before the exam but by the end of that ...
Open University: Revision

A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Wednesday, 29 September 2010. The Horror. The Horror. There's just too much to do, arghhh! I've spent the last two weeks writing up the course objectives for M364 and M366. No, I don't know them all. I've been re-doing the exercises in the course material and I've just started on past papers. I'm just getting my head down and doing it, onwards and etc! Posted by Andrew Horne. Open University: Hard Headed Nowhere Fast
http://openthirst.blogspot.com/2009/10/hard-headed-nowhere-fast.html
A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Sunday, 4 October 2009. Hard Headed Nowhere Fast. T209 was a 60 point, course for the degree. BSc (Honours) Information Technology and Computing and in its favour I can at least say I have gained the ability to write reports. Or I think I have anyway. Black eye, smashed cycling specs. Blood from the side of my nose, bruise on left side of head. Fortunately it was the end of the ride and we came back in the car. ...
Open University: January 2009
http://openthirst.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Monday, 12 January 2009. Review earlier work before commencing and review new work completed at the end of a study period. This counts when taking breaks too. I tend to read through my notes of the previous session. Further things to try when stuck, try explaining the problem to someone else, the cat, dog or hamster even. Another person may ask you questions that force you to rethink, a family pet may not ask qu...

A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Thursday, 12 February 2009. I took my own advice and reviewed my previous work before submitting the TMA, paying particular attention to the comments made about my errors last time, hey, how easy was that;-). Blogmatic: Day 201, How many pieces of tat?
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-201-how-many-pieces-of-tat.html
An IT person mumbles. Wednesday, 6 May 2015. Day 201, How many pieces of tat? One of them, that's 1, item only says anything about what Nick Clegg has done for Sheffield. Apparently he's done something for roads. Oh good. Roads, that's what we want. Personally I don't give a flying fuck about the potholes, I do give a flying fuck about all the other stuff that he's fucked over. But enough of that, here's a lovely picture of some Lib Dem leaflet crap for recycling. For official/internal use only:. Day 203...
Blogmatic: Day 206, Luck, chance, pick a card
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-206-luck-chance-pick-card.html
An IT person mumbles. Monday, 11 May 2015. Day 206, Luck, chance, pick a card. Trying to get a reference to the 'Dance of Death' and football in here. It won't work, no matter how convoluted it ends up being. Hans Holbein made a series of woodcuts with scenes from the Dance of Death, these were loosely based on the Lübeck's original painting. Lübeck painted a 30 meter long scene showing death with 24 humans dancing in a long chain. For official/internal use only:. Monday, May 11, 2015. My Open University...
Blogmatic: May 2015
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
An IT person mumbles. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Day 226, expiry date. After a 5.5k run this morning this human felt much closer to expiry date than previously. My thought was that this looked like death, but as corpses tend to look a lot better than this after being spruced up death operatives my opinion was revised. So this looks like a knackered old fart pulling a face for comic effect, except only the tongue sticking out bit was for comic effect. And there really isn't any comic effect. Sunday, May 31, 2015.
Blogmatic: Day 207, Contractual obligation road work
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-207-contractual-obligation-road-work.html
An IT person mumbles. Tuesday, 12 May 2015. Day 207, Contractual obligation road work. May not travel far in time and space but make much unseen headway. A view of London Road looking towards town from the junction of Woodhead Road. Highfield Post Office in the foreground on the right hand corner, The Cremorne just visible nudging out at the next junction, Alderson Road. This road would have appeared busy in 1988 as pictured. What great joy of traffic chaos we were going to come to see as normal, huh.
Blogmatic: Day 199, Tough and uncompromising
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-199-tough-and-uncompromising.html
An IT person mumbles. Monday, 4 May 2015. Day 199, Tough and uncompromising. Scripted bear fights that we end up with. Tough and uncompromising doesn’t make any of the nuance or complexity of arguments visible and we end up with a veneer of knowledge that bears no semblance to reality. Tough and uncompromising stands in the way of progress and makes expectations unrealistic. Tough and uncompromising is posturing, muscle flexing, and meat-headed, look out for it. Tough, uncompromising, unwelcoming. Day 20...
Blogmatic: Day 202, Baal's hymn
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-202-baals-hymn.html
An IT person mumbles. Thursday, 7 May 2015. Day 202, Baal's hymn. A great song about an amoral character. Baal probably would have voted Tory, such is the evidence of his self interest and lack of consideration for others. So while I bugger off and watch some people that are paid far too much for kicking a ball about, and who are likely to be, according to Sol Campbell, mostly Tories, there's some voting going on. Campbell replied “Hahaha! Whilst his mother's womb contained the growing Baal. He felt twic...
Blogmatic: Day 200, Double century
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-200-double-century.html
An IT person mumbles. Tuesday, 5 May 2015. Day 200, Double century. May 5 is the 125th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. There are 240 days remaining until the end of the year. This day marks the approximate midpoint of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere (starting the season at the March equinox). Thank you Wikipedia for the above facts with regard to the date today on the event of the 200th day of this numbered sequence of blogging. This was going to be a...
Blogmatic: Day 209, Triumph, disaster, part exchange, what have you
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-209-triumph-disaster-part-exchange.html
An IT person mumbles. Thursday, 14 May 2015. Day 209, Triumph, disaster, part exchange, what have you. Apparently there was this thing called the Triumph Motor Company. Would you believe it, they made cars. I struggle with that. Was pretty sure it was motorcycles all the way. Albeit crappy old parallel twins built to the same design for decades leading to them being kicked up the arse by the arrival of reliable bikes such as the four cylinder Honda 750K. Phew, take a breath. Thursday, May 14, 2015. Day 2...
Blogmatic: April 2015
http://andyh2o.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
An IT person mumbles. Thursday, 30 April 2015. Day 195, colour stripe, weather symbols. Nah, don't be soft. Piece entitled - What did you do in your evening after work? For official/internal use only:. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Day 194, motorcycle image motion induced nausea. Anyone would think this person had an interest in motorcycles. There are more on another shelf, hidden from view. The effects that Google apply to photographs can certainly have unintended consequences.

A tale of the trials and tribulations of my studies of B13, IT and Computing with the OU. Saturday, 2 October 2010. DECIDE doesn't really help with the meaty points here, what does it stand for, well this:. The only one of those that applies to the point of the process is Evaluate. So obviously I had to come up with a string of characters for the key processes, not an acronym. I'm sure you'll agree that makes much more sense. Or at least it will once I explain how to remember it and what it represents.

Onion Routing" refers to the layered nature of the encryption service: The original data are encrypted and re-encrypted multiple times, then sent through successive Tor relays, each one of which decrypts a "layer" of encryption before passing the data on to the next relay and, ultimately, its destination. This reduces the possibility of the original data being unscrambled or understood in transit. The Tor client is a free software and use of the Tor network is free of charge. Fill form to surf.
