On March 28th 2015 we’ll be taking part in Arduino Day as well as Waste Not… in Woking. We’ll be open to the public to drop in and see find out about Arduino, but also to come along and work on projects, see various talks, and more. Phase 1: Construction Update. Phase 1 means South London Makerspace will actually be a makerspace: after taking possession of Arch 1129, 41 Norwood Road (just behind our previous shop unit) in mid-October, we’ve been incredibly busy working towards a state where we can open. This won’t be the makerspace finished, but as we say: phase one complete. Before Christmas, our energies were on building a massive acoustic wall to protect our neighbours from any noise. Phase 2 is go: 20k Funding Secured! We’re very excited indeed to announce that we’ve been selected as a beneficiary of the GLA’s High Street Fund. So what does this mean for SLMS? The short answer is that we can jump straight onto building Phase 2 of the space, and buy a bunch of nice tools to go in it. The original plan called for Phase 1 to be open for a year or two while we gradually saved up enough money. Just as soon as we finish Phase 1, of course.
