Mothers of Young Children Serving Others: Support the Troops: Holiday Stockings
http://youngmothersservingothers.blogspot.com/2011/03/support-troops-holiday-stockings.html
Mothers of Young Children Serving Others. Having a child can severely limit your service options. Many organizations require regularly scheduled service that may prove difficult with young children at home. Or perhaps you may feel hesitant to visit hospitals, soup kitchens, or shelters with infants in tow. This site is designed to provide you with service opportunities that fit a young mother's hectic lifestyle and allow you to raise your children in an atmosphere of altruism. The Yarnability: June 2011

Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Native Western Dogwood in our back yard. A month, it's been a full month since I've posted anything. Many times I started out to write something witty and so very clever, only to get distracted. So what's been happening? We had the motorcycle drill team. The City of Port Angeles Chain Gang truck (for real). The Sequim Fire Department Engine No. 2. The sewer pumping truck. Huge! A front end loader with a bucket in the front and a scoop in the back. A vintage John Deere. We have re...

The Yarnability: July 2012

Monday, July 23, 2012. I know I've been absent for a long while. Life got complicated and out of sorts. I don't have any thing witty to say tonight, or fun, just the plain facts of what's been going on. First of all, let me start out by saying everyone at Edgar's Acres is fine. David is loving retirement and is staying out of trouble being a Master Gardener. Edgar has retired along with David. Yes, life overall is beautiful. Except for Hidradenitis suppurativa. I am more fortunate than many of those who ...

Friday, February 10, 2012. All of the attached pictures and notes are priceless, and so is the sentiment behind the stockings we sent. The thanks go to everyone who contributed and supported OHS 2011. From all of us at Operation Holiday Stockings, thank you on behalf of our troops. Thank you for all the packages you all sent. We will be sure to get a nice group photo to show our appreciation. Again, thank you for the support! May God bless everyone of our troops and keep an angel on their shoulders.

The Yarnability: January 2013
http://theyarnability.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 5, 2013. The alligator above is darling, but do any of you know who would wear it? I don't, but I am sure someone must. This seems to be a pretty popular pattern on Ravelry. If I had a lot of spare time, I just might knit this for Rev. Johnston. Nothing like a cute little sheep soap on a rope. Anyone who has lived with a cat knows this is strickly taboo. Poor little kitty. I know there are people who like to show off their smarts, but their brains? Next to the killer iceberg? These are ...

Friday, September 30, 2011. Johnny Says Hello and Thanks. Johnny asked me to do a special posting on his behalf. He wants everyone to know how much he appreciates your prayers, love, wishes and concern. The picture above shows Johnny two days after surgery. He ended up have two herinated disks repaired. Fortunately there were no complications and he is making wonderful progress. He has his own personal studio apartment for at least two weeks. Every few hours we put on the lead and walking support and...

The Yarnability: February 2011

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Since I last posted I've been to Madrona and back, did jury duty, got snowed in, ran errands, paid bills, wrote letters, and got Louie through his knee surgery. There are a lot of Susans. In the first class I took, Emergency Measures with Sally Melville. In this case, three. The skein of yarn was tangled so Susan M held the skein, Susan B untangled, and Susan R (me) rolled the yarn on the ball. By the way, please note the vest Susan B is wearing. A regular vendor at Madrona.

Friday, November 25, 2011. And the Beat Goes On . What began as a simple request from a deployed son to a mom for a few holiday stockings for his troops has snowballed into the nonprofit Operation Holiday Stockings. We are compelled to continue on this project because we need to. We are receiving all of our requests this year directly from the deployed troops. You read the following comments and tell me how to stop sending out these stockings. Valerie in Seattle knit these patriotic stockings! Soldiers i...
