Real deal social media advice from a twenty-something. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. November 21, 2011. I’m back from a wonderful 10 days in sunny Hawaii and ready to get back to blogging. I was suffering from extreme social media burnout before I left for vacation and was providing absolutely no insight on this blog. So I just stopped writing it. But I’m feeling refreshed! I’m going to give that a big resounding yes. And here are a couple reasons why:. Facebook and T...

Xenofornia: Gentlemen Prefer A Good Brand
http://xenofornia.blogspot.com/2010/05/gentlemen-prefer-good-brand.html
Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Gentlemen Prefer A Good Brand. This weekend I ended up watching two Marilyn Monroe films: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot. I’d seen both of them before, a long time ago and I’d forgotten why people love Marilyn –after all, with the wealth of pretty blondes on the large and small screens, why would she stand out – a plump blonde in Technicolor? But she stuck with it, unapologetically, until her untimely end. What a powerful brand! Posted by Ed and Camelia. Big thank you...

Xenofornia: On B(r)e(a)st Behavior
http://xenofornia.blogspot.com/2010/06/on-breast-behavior.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. In a city like SF, where you can always count on the fog and never on the sun, on the rare occasions when the weather warms up for real, women and their faithful companions (…) sometimes are caught unprepared. The below is my humble attempt at offering SF ladies some guidelines on how to react to such unusual circumstances. Disclaimer:. The b(r)e(a)st practices were gleaned from observing actual San Franciscans in their own habitat, Discovery Channel-style. While you’re there...

spatialist: Imagining global space, part 1
http://spatialist.blogspot.com/2009/03/imagining-global-space-part-1.html
This blog is devoted to thoughts and observations about urban space. New technologies enable heretofore unimaginable human interactions. Yet our day-to-day lives unfold in physical - increasingly urban - space. Winston Churchill said, ”We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.“ While I’m no architectural determinist, I do believe there’s a relationship between the morphology of spaces we inhabit (context? And the way we conduct our lives within those spaces (content? Tuesday, 17 March 2009. You a...

Xenofornia: The Foot Chronicles
http://xenofornia.blogspot.com/2010/09/foot-chronicles.html
Thursday, September 16, 2010. If those bone chips don’t migrate back into the mother bone, though, I’m stuck in the damn cast until the beginning of November. Bottom line: with a little luck, I should be able to walk again by Christmas. And what better present, right? I’m slowly realizing how certain daily habits of mine are toxic: checking Facebook and email compulsively, texting people instead of talking to them… and I’m contemplating taking steps to remedy that. Also, as you can probably tell, having ...

Xenofornia: "Why so local, son?"
http://xenofornia.blogspot.com/2010/12/why-so-local-son.html
Friday, December 3, 2010. Why so local, son? After a two-month hiatus, mostly due to my limited ability to concentrate on things other than healing and working, I’m finally back. Well, actually, in all honesty, I’ve been back for a little while, but most of my blogging energy went into a different direction: The Wedding Blog. That Google is going local and so is the world. Some people salute the new utilitarian location approach as adding true and immediate value to web search. 8230; I never thought I wo...
