Simulating IPv6 tunneling in a VM. June 27th, 2013. I was tasked to test some software that captured packets. Testing included how it handled IPv6 traffic. Specifically, encapsulating IPv6 within IPv4. I needed to at least generate encapsulated ICMP and HTTP traffic. I wondered, how the heck I could simulate that in a VM environment, without the fuss of configuring IPv6 routers and such. After some research, and trial and error I came up with the following.
