September 10, 2011. We were lucky enough to land a wwoofing stint for a couple of weeks at Escape River Pearl Farm, out on Turtlehead Island in Cape York. The couple of weeks slowly turned into a couple of months which were some of the most eye opening and beautiful times either of us have experienced. Anyway, here’s a taste of blessed island life. The frangipani next to our cottage. Birds on the front beach. Green ants nest. Beautiful home, nasty bites. Picnic on Front Beach. Life = food (mango = mess).

Lake Tinaroo and the enchanting Tablelands. August 5, 2011. Yes, it’s been a while since we posted. Mostly because we’ve been having far too much fun in places with no decent internet connection, and then taken a while to get into the swing of Darwin (which does have decent internet, but also a very relaxed attitude towards NT time: Not Today, Not Tomorrow, Not Tuesday, Not Thursday. Any wonder it’s taken so long? Lake Tinaroo campsite, nearing sunset. The very impressive Curtain Fig. Back on the highway.

September 1, 2011. This happened on the full on corrugates turning into Old Faithful. Gone! And getting fixed up. We made it to the first sunlit campsite in the afternoon. Setting up and sorting fishing gear. Launching the tinny into croc filled billabong. First little fish on the first night. These beautiful Archer fish turned out to be all through the billabong. Twilight on the billabong. So many of these little beauties. And even more. Lovely out on the water. Burn, newspaper, burn. From → camping.
