A conglomeration of art, literature, and anything else that might distract me from otherwise "important" dealings. Monday, July 11, 2011. Updating with helpful information? Now you're just spoiling us. It has been far too long since I have blogged. I ended up getting a Tumblr that I tend to update more since it's always a quick phrase or photograph. I reserve this for more lengthy posts. Though, this one won't be much of anything. I have resolved that with our next apartment we will be more organized and...

A conglomeration of art, literature, and anything else that might distract me from otherwise "important" dealings. Sunday, January 2, 2011. Hybrid Animals: Our Favorite, Morally Questionable Science Experiment. So today Joshua and I were "stumbling" on the internet. We can across a web page all about various animal hybrids, while I know things like the liger. Existed before, some of the others things listed bothered me. I'm all for an adorable, but ridiculously impractical zebra-pony hybrid. Results from...

..."brief" observances: Irony? Ironic...irony?
http://orangeoctoberskies.blogspot.com/2011/01/irony-ironicirony.html
A conglomeration of art, literature, and anything else that might distract me from otherwise "important" dealings. Thursday, January 6, 2011. There are actually 3 common uses of Irony:. This is when a speaker says one thing but means another. Most would call this sarcasm, though many scholars argue that sarcasm is not irony (despite it being the original definition). Example: "Yes, I would LOVE. To get a root canal sans the anesthetic.". O'Henry is the master of Irony. Perhaps you should give him a r...

A conglomeration of art, literature, and anything else that might distract me from otherwise "important" dealings. Thursday, January 6, 2011. My complete and utter DISDAIN for Marquis de Sade. After an escape attempt he was transferred to Bastille in Paris in 1784. During this time he wrote Les 120 Journess de Sodome. He then wrote and published Justine. 1797) the sequel. These are two of his most famous works. These were about two sisters who, upon being orphaned, begin leading separate but equa...What ...

A Wolf in People Clothes: February 2011

A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Saturday, February 19, 2011. William Makepeace Thakeray: Second isn't Always the First Loser. Had his nose broken twice by two different boys. That's why his nose looks the way it does in pictures. But how many men can say they had their nose broken by a friend of Tennyson. Of course, George Stovin Venables. Wasn't Alfred Tennyson's friend at the time. Nor was he yet a Fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge. The third school he had attended.

A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Sunday, April 10, 2011. I've finally gotten to the point in my reading list for this year where I will make my first real volley into Medieval literature. I'm starting it with three books that will perhaps help me understand the actual Medieval texts better. First, Terry Jones' Medieval Lives. Which I am half-way through. Next will either be C.S. Lewis. History of the Kings of Britain. And The Canterbury Tales. I hope to be updating more of...

A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Sunday, January 30, 2011. Jerome K. Jerome. Some people are just blessed with the best names. Is it any wonder he was a humorist? It's like the name Charlie Chaplin. You can't help but hear it and assume he's going to amuse you. Granted, Charlie's full name, Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, is less provoking of a man falling down humorously. Jerome K. Jerome, to say nothing of the dog. For shame, America. For shame. Needless to say, the public ...

A Wolf in People Clothes: Life of a Good-for-Nothing
http://heyimaghost-awolfinpeopleclothes.blogspot.com/2012/04/life-of-good-for-nothing.html
A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Friday, April 6, 2012. Life of a Good-for-Nothing. I just finished Joseph Von Eichendorff. S classic romantic novel Life of a Good-for-Nothing. It's a good thing it's spring, because I feel I'd dismiss Eichendorff's adventure as "bunk" and "humbug" in any other season. It's definitely a novel to read in spring, preferably while reclining in an open field, and thinking about falling in love for no verifiable reason. Life of a Good-for-Nothing.

http://heyimaghost-awolfinpeopleclothes.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. I don't usually make a reading list, but for once in my life, I have a clear cut idea of what books I want to read. I'm currently reading Caleb Williams. By William Godwin. This is my list of books to read after that. There will be some free space in between some of them which can be taken up by randomly selected books, but I will adhere to this basic list. Under the Greenwood Tree. By William Makepeace Thackeray.

A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Thursday, November 11, 2010. So here's my gibberish. Enjoy. Bookshelves lined with Mondays, fall down on mice having their afternoon tea, and shake the towncar. Coffee breaks the lining of our coats like mustard on a dry leaf. Lazy turtle! Never forget the sugar! Homeopathic medicine is like a head in a jar. It gobbles up all your onions and throws them at passing old ladies, walking their husbands to classes for the blind. The fish! http://heyimaghost-awolfinpeopleclothes.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
A Wolf in People Clothes. Thoughts about literature. . .usually. Sunday, August 28, 2011. Tolkien Was A Racist? Based on the evidence, we’ve got a writer creating villains, colored black, who oppose the pure-hearted white heroes, right? So was Tolkien a racist? Let me just finish by saying, I’m white (though, in actuality, my skin is more of a pinkish color), and I didn’t assume Tolkien thought I was a part of some master race simply because Aragorn was the same color as me. Lord of the rings.
