Orchard City Notes: June 2015

http://orchardcity.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 11, 2015. May 30th, 2015 A Little Look at OCC. Enjoying Praise Time before Sabbath School begins. Sylvia B leads us in a lovely program about The Parable of the Mop. She used her old Corona Year book to show the "futures"of some of our church members. Her programs have very nice power points she puts together to illustrate her theme. Don Q lead the upstairs Bible study class and at one point he shared a song with us - " I Can Not Come to the Banquet". Posted by Glenda Quiring. Lori S. ...

Orchard City Notes: Sabbath at OCC June 27th, 2015

http://orchardcity.blogspot.com/2015/07/sabbath-at-occ-june-27th-2015.html

Saturday, July 4, 2015. Sabbath at OCC June 27th, 2015. Each Sabbath at OCC is different and special. This Sabbath was communion for the second quarter. Glenda Q. had the Sabbath Sscool time and she shared a few stories about teachers and how much they touch our lives. There was a short video of a really caring coach/teacher who encouraged a young boy who has cerebral palsy to finish the race he wanted to run at this school. Let's remember the teachers in our lives who have encouraged and cared about us.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. CANstruction at the mall. This year Okanagan Adventist Academy entered a CANstruction building in this event and here is the report of the winners. The Write Life: My wish...

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2015/01/my-wish.html

Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Today marks one year since my Grandma took her last breath and went to sleep until Jesus comes. In some ways it has seemed like a long year, but in other ways it has really flown by. I don't have that chance anymore, at least not in this world. But I absolutely cannot wait to find her again at the second coming and introduce my kids to her, to enjoy the prospect of them getting to know each other for all of eternity. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." ( Rev. 22:20b. Hi, I'm Ali. I...

Wednesday, January 15, 2014. I know my recent blog posts have been focusing on my grandmother, but she was a special person and I am inspired to write when I think of her. There might be a few more posts about her in the next little while. I found these pictures while I was looking for the perfect photos to include in my 10 Things I Love About Grandma. Bryn and Gram walking together. Care shown through touch. Monday, January 13, 2014. Yes, my beloved Grandma died this morning, after struggling long weeks...

The Write Life: My Travels

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/p/travels.html

Traveling is a passion of mine, and I want to explore all over the globe! Guatemala City, Guatemala. In the middle of my university years, I took a semester off and went to Guatemala for three and a half months. I had grown up hearing stories of my mum's own three-and-a-half-month stint working at an orphanage in Honduras, and had always longed to do orphanage work, too, someday. From mid-February to the end of May 2006 I worked at an International Children's Care. Usa River, Tanzania. For eight months&#...

Monday, January 26, 2015. 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years. I turned 30 yesterday, and thought I'd capture the event with a fun and inspirational blog post. These might be things I've learned as a child, a teen, or in my 20s. I might have learned them in family life, or by living alone, in married life, or by living overseas. But one thing is sure: they're all things I've learned for myself in the past 30 years of my life! Books are magical and once you open one, anything is possible. Travel. Near ...

The Write Life: December 2013

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 22, 2013. Today I learned that my Grandma's. Health is deteriorating. I went home to BC in November and was able to spend quality time with her, but even though I saw her then, after a lung cancer diagnosis and a stroke, it still comes as a shock to hear that she isn't doing well. The Write Life: May 2014

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 23, 2014. Five Minute Friday: Close. As we were growing up, people always commented about us. "You guys seem so close." "You three don't fight like other siblings. You must be really close." "What makes you all so close? We would either just smile and nod at the statements, or shrug at the questions. We didn't know what made us close, we just were. Siblings in late 1989. Siblings after a performance in the early 2000s. My musings on the prompt 'close' for Five Minute Friday. As is often the c...

The Write Life: June 2014

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 16, 2014. The past week has been a whirlwind of going through clothes and some of our things in storage. Between Tuesday, Friday, and today I've gone through my entire wardrobe, trying on most of my clothes and carefully critiquing all of them to decide if they are appropriate for a 6-months-to-30-years-old woman to wear. Of course, even though I didn't wear these clothes out or grow out of them, many of my clothes from high school have long since left my wardrobe. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Write Life: August 2014

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 28, 2014. This is a kiddie pool. My two young charges and I have soaked ourselves in this pool at least once a week for most of the summer. By soaked I mean, a 1-year-old vigorously splashing hands and feet in excitement (or sometimes frustration, when he got too cold) and chucking water toys all over the place, and a six-year-old slipping down the small slide to create waves, spraying me with water guns (yes plural, a small and a large), and dumping buckets of water over my head. I'm ap...

The Write Life: Common Ground Country Fair

http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2014/09/common-ground-country-fair.html

Monday, September 22, 2014. Common Ground Country Fair. My brother and his wife invited me to join them at the Common Ground Country Fair. Throughout the day, I snapped some pictures on my phone (smaller to carry and less obtrusive to take pictures with than my camera, although the pictures are worse quality). I'll let the photos share a glimpse of how we spent our day. A native man demonstrating how to carve a paddle. This hymnal is going on my wish list :). Tyler and Amanda looking at the lavender.
