Wednesday, October 21, 2009. The next thing to sow is some radish. The Irises are doing well, I'm really impressed with Babylon Queen, so tall and with so many blooms, fantastic! The roses are at last getting a move on, unfortunately so is the black spot. I'm beginning to think spraying is a waste of time. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. A hard day in the garden today. I have grubbed out 2 large shrubs that took up nearly all of a bed. I think they may have been planted as a hedge at one time, but others didn't survive. They were close together off to one side of the bed. The tops were easy to cut down and dispose of but OH! Thursday, November 30, 2006. The Zygopetalum is in full flower now so I have to include another image of it. The perfume is glorious. There appears to be only 2 baby birds now, but that`s enough! Wednesday, January 31, 2007. I sowed some seeds today, although there`s hot weather forecast for the next few days so maybe not a smart move. However they won`t germinate yet so it`s seedlings that expire in the heat so they should be Ok. I put in Beetroot, Globe and Baby. Silverbeet (not too many ) Spinach and Thai Basil. Sunday, October 11, 2009. I haven't done much in the garden over the last couple of days, due to the fact I wasn't here much! On Friday I placed the dripline in for the tomatoes, which won't be planted this week I guess as the weather forecast isn't good. I'm going to mulch the bed with Cane mulch before I put them in, although I've heard it's better to wait till the soil warms up. I'll defer that decision. Maybe Triforine gives it to them? While in the garden Yesterday i decide to look at the soil temperatures the first ones are from yesterday 27/12/07 second one is from today 28/12/07. Seed rasing mix in the shade was 27.5°C. Soil with out mulch was 30°C. Soil with mulch was 24.9°C. Compost was 40°C and rising but i can only meaure upto 50°C on it so i pulled it out when it was rising still. And it is 40.9°C outside.
