Ramblings on Food and Life. Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Southern Chinese summers are hot and humid. Spending the summer in Hangzhou = being hot. Here are some of the many things we ate or drank in an effort to keep cool:. Living in a hot place with non-potable water = lots of bottled water. Overpriced but refreshing energy drinks. It's a lucky break when a hotel room has its own water dispenser. Watermelon, ice, and aloe. Cold mango pudding dessert. Chinese style banana split. Soft serve over slushies.

On par if not worse than Singapore but without the air-conditioning and with more pollution.
