Sunday, January 12, 2014. Photoset from Whitsler, Joffre Lakes. Finding turns in the Joffre Lakes Basin. I celebrated my birthday last weekend with a three-day trip to SW British Columbia, continuing the elusive 2013-14 search for powder snow. We caught a great day at Blackcomb with 6-10" of fresh snow on top of a very firm base, with clear skies and amazing views. The masses were stoked! Coastal BC is drop-dead gorgeous and only a few short hours from Oregon - go check it out! Water ice and powder turns!

Thursday, August 8, 2013. Barad-Dur, Wolf Rock, Oregon. Tucked away in the Willamette National Forest outside of Eugene, Oregon, the largest monolith in Oregon towers over the landscape of the western Cascades. Inspired by previous tales of loose rock, runout route finding and monster roofs, Jaime and I drove south last Friday evening to check out Barad-Dur, rumored to be one of the best long routes in the state.
