Ramblings from A Bird: Purpose of life
http://ramblingsfromabird.blogspot.com/2011/04/purpose-of-life.html
Ramblings from A Bird. Sunday, April 24, 2011. One and half decade has passed since that time. If you were to ask me the same question, what is the purpose of life? What's the meaning of life? Why are we being born? Sometimes life is really very very strange. I desired a lot of things, and because of those desire, I became attached with a lot of things. Through this desire, it has brought some suffering in me, especially when I failed to get what I want, or the thing that I love went away. People who ten...

Ramblings from A Bird. Friday, December 25, 2009. Every beings in this world yearn for happiness. All beings will do all sorts of things to fulfill so that they can be happy, or rather they will do all possible things that they thought will lead to their happiness. In the case of Buddhism, the Buddha puts it beautifully in three words: Gratification, Danger and Release, to describe happiness that we obtained or try to obtain through one of our sixth senses. Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Loving kindness me...

Ramblings from A Bird. Saturday, November 21, 2009. The power of Memes. This is the first blog that I have ever written after many years. To kick start my blogging activity, I would like to share on my reflection on memes. When I was having holiday in Medan one week ago, my cousin, Sophia Liauw, lent me a very interesting book with titled "Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Malcolm Gladwell, then discusses three rules of epidemics, causing this to happen:. 1 The law of the few. 2 The stickiness factor.

Ramblings from A Bird: January 2010
http://ramblingsfromabird.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Ramblings from A Bird. Thursday, January 28, 2010. I first heard about the story of Upagupta a few years ago during a Dhamma talk by Ajahn Sujato. Somehow there is something magical about this story that it is always in my mind from the first day I heard from Ajahn Sujato until today. The story goes like this. This is a very fascinating story to me. Just as the Buddha is symbol of Deathless, Mara is the symbol of Death (and probably in particular the Death of spirituality). Although the action from outsi...

Monday, December 30, 2013. I read online there is a futuristic smart home at the Bangsar area of Kuala Lumpur. It is actually a subsidary of the electronics giant Panasonic. I'm very curious on the technology that is being used to design the smart home. Together with my friend, I contacted them a few months before and managed to arrange an on-site visit to them just a day before New Year's Eve. PanaHome builds an entire house using special materials. It's construction process is actually much faster&...

Sunday is the only day where I have the most free time available. After consulting with Lonely Planet Sydney and a few other travel guide...

Sunday, November 30, 2014. My brother passed me a free entry ticket to River Safari that can be used during the month of November only. Using this as an opportunity, AJ and myself plan a visit to the River Safari on the 29th November. We took a taxi from Balestier to Choa Chu Kang as the way is faster and more direct. We arrived in around 20mins and begin our journey to the River Safari. Pass the gates, we were greeted by the river and the equatorial rainforests. As it started to rain, we explored the Am...

Monday, December 08, 2014. Anime Festival Asia [07/12]. It's the time of the year again - the Anime Festival Asia. I recalled coming to AFA for the first time in 2008, and watched how it has grown these 7 years. We have cosplayers around the entrance area as we proceed to buy tickets. I bought the exhibition and stage access pass. There are many more international exhibitors in the AFA now. With continuous live stage entertainment below. And not forgetting domo-kun below.
