Orvis Cattle Company is one of the premier seedstock producers in the Hereford cattle industry. Our primary product are Hereford breeding stock (herd bulls and cows) that we sell to the commercial cattle industry. Our herd is oldest commercial Hereford herd in California, established in 1918. We are located 11 miles east of Farmington, California on State highway 4. See Map and Directions. On the Orvis Cattle Co website for directions. We had an early snow this year but the cows figured it our right away.

So, would you like to try some Orvis Beef on your table? This is what you can expect to get from an order:. One animal will yield about 400 pounds of packaged beef. Half a beef will be about 200, and a quarter beef will be about 100 pounds. It is important to note that a ¼ beef is ½ of a ½. It is not a front quarter or hind quarter. Simply put, when you buy a ¼ beef you get half of all the cuts a ½ beef yields. You will get approximately 1/3. Roasts, and 1/3. Want to try something smaller? 396 N Main St.

I can't use a whole side of beef at one time. Can I get smaller boxes? Yes, orvis beef can be found at local merchants. See the sales page. For a list of sellers who carry our beef. So, how much beef can I expect to take home? That depends on how big the animal was. One animal will yield between 390 and 420 pounds of packaged beef. Half a beef will yield about 200 pounds, and a quarter beef will yield about 100 pounds. You do need to make sure you have the freezer space for what you order.
