I think one of the best descriptions of this area can be found on page 132 of The Story of the Prairies, or the Landscape Geology of North Dakota by Daniel Everett Willard originally published in 1906 where he said:. Site Dates and Fees. Minuteman III Air Force Fact. Grand Forks Air Force Base. Minuteman III missile silo. Constructed as part of the Grand Forks Air Force Base's 321st Missile Wing, Oscar-Zero and November 33 were completed in 1965, with Minuteman II missiles installed shortly after completion. The sites were modified in the 1970s to accommodate Minuteman III missiles. For nearly 30 years these two missile facilities were on continuous alert. More on Oscar-Zero at the State Historical Site.
