We're going to try and post some more pictures with a few sentences each week. Here is the view just outside the Saleways Department Store up near the US Embassy in the north part of Kathmandu. Our Next Great Adventure. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. The hardest part of the week would have to be the lack of running water. We have been filling up buckets from water trucks and flushing toilets to the best of our ability. No laundry has been done, and cooking is near impossible. But, I am happy to report, that as of 4 am this morning, the water has returned. How do I know is was 4am? Wally heard the banging of the pipes as the water entered them. Our Next Great Adventure. Friday, August 14, 2009. Our water has returned! It is so nice to have water back, a fews days without and no dishwasher means a huge stack of dishes! Our drain has this really neat basket that catches food. It can be removed and emptied into the trash. I love it! I want one in my Umatilla kitchen. I did the trek in 7 days: Nayapul to Tikka Durga, Tikka Durga to Ghorepani, Ghorepani to Poon Hill (for sunrise) to Chhomrong (that was a long day! Chomrong to Himalaya, Himalaya to ABC, ABC to Chhomrong, and Chhomrong to Nayapul. Dinner most days: Dal Bhat. Poon Hill at sunrise. Sweet milk tea and toast for breakfast.
