TOP CHIMNEY GULLY HUT. Otematata Station is a well-established, progressive farming operation, with seven staff and a busy calendar. While shepherds do still make use of horses to get about the property, you are just as likely to see vehicles and a helicopter heading out into the hills. Each hut can accommodate multiple parties at any one time, but if you are looking for a company-free hut experience, do let us know and we may be able to assist. Otematata Station. The Cameron family began farming in the Waitaki Valley in 1892. Today, the family’s operations include Otematata Station and neighbouring Aviemore Station. Hugh Cameron is the fourth generation to farm the property and, together with wife Mandy, they are committed to the station’s ecological and economic sustainability so it will be in good heart for following generations.
