December 30, 2010. With the new year approaching at breakneck speed, I find it all but impossible not to take this little sign I stumbled across as some sort of portent. I can’t help but wonder what sinkholes I’ll find myself mired in, so I’ll just have to hope they’re well stocked with butter and some books to read. Take this in my sinkhole too–it’s a hazelnut brown butter cake. Also, it tastes like heaven. Hazelnut Brown Butter Cake. 5 ounces (about one heaping cup) hazelnuts. 1/3 cups all-purpose flour.
