http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2015/05/long-drive-back-to-colorado.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Thursday, May 14, 2015. Long Drive Back to Colorado. Bill and I are safely back at our summer home in Colorado Springs. As usual, we took the long way home so we could do some sight seeing. Our first stop was Baton Rouge and dinner at Parrains Seafood Restaurant. It was delicious! The next morning we headed south to Avery Island and the Tabasco Sauce Factory. After the factory tour we drove around Jungle Gardens - a MUST see! Common N...

I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Friday, September 5, 2014. Colorado Field Ornithologist (CFO) Convention in Sterling Colorado. Bill and I attended our first CFO Convention over the Labor Day weekend in Sterling, Colorado. We gathered with 175 other birders and the mayor of Sterling for the welcome barbecue on Thursday evening followed by 3 days of field trips, a Saturday night banquet, talks and impromptu "chases" to see specific birds. Not a great picture as it was...

Parker's Barkers: May 2015
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Birds of the Plains. Bill and I headed east to find another RC car track. We didn't have any luck with the track so we detoured onto some side roads to see what we could see. We drove right past this Scaled Quail perched on a fence post and Bill had to back up so I could get a picture. Another lark and another beautiful singer - a Western Meadowlark with what looks like lunch in his mouth. Check out those ears!

http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Our Last Week in Florida. I sure am going to miss these cute little guys when we leave later this week to return to Colorado! Birding has been good the last week as the summer birds return. These are the first Eastern Kingbirds I've ever seen in the back. We see them everyday now. Eastern Kingbird sitting atop a thistle and hiding behind the growing wildflowers and weeds. They were pretty far out in the back.

Parker's Barkers: Colorado Birds, A New Quilt Beginning and a Naughty Squirrel
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2015/05/colorado-birds-new-quilt-beginning-and.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Colorado Birds, A New Quilt Beginning and a Naughty Squirrel. The Mountain Chickadees delight us all summer long. Happy little birds! Every year we hope the Western Tanagers will stay around, but they don't. I'm happy to have so many for the couple of weeks they stay. This was a special treat - a Black-chinned Hummingbird. Lousy picture, but look at that beautiful neck. I can't help it - we love the Western Tana...

Parker's Barkers: November 2013
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Saturday, November 9, 2013. Bright and early this morning - just after sunrise - the two coyotes crossed over our backyard again. I was so excited to see and photograph the coyotes that I almost missed what was right in front of me! This beautiful Coopers Hawk was sitting on the bird feeders about 15 feet from where I was standing (inside our partially completed lanai). Thursday, November 7, 2013. This is the One-block Wonder I just c...

Parker's Barkers: New Hobby
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2015/05/new-hobby.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Our newest hobby is RC cars. Bill helped to begin a new club here at OTOW and after just a month we have 24 members. Great fun! We had a wonderful time! There was plenty of room once I packed up my sewing area. I thought this was a great picture to compare the size of a Downy Woodpecker (left) and a Red-bellied Woodpecker. The Red-bellied looks a little shaggy. Both birds are regulars at our feeders. Common Night...

Parker's Barkers: January 2014
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Friday, January 31, 2014. Birding with Beth: Venetian Gardens. Beth wanted to see a Purple Gallinule so we were off to Leesburg, Fl. Sightings are guaranteed at the 64-acre Venetian Gardens park on the west shore of Lake Harris. They look similar to Coots (black with white bill) and Common Gallinules (black with red bill) but definitely take the beauty queen crown. This is a juvenile and does not have the pretty bill yet. And our resi...

Parker's Barkers: February 2014
http://parkersbarkers.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
I don't take beautiful pictures,. I take pictures of beautiful things. Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Foggy Morning Birds and Beasts. We know we have Armadillos because they poke their pointy noses into the ground looking for grubs, but we rarely see them. It was early on a foggy morning and I was sitting at my sewing machine when his movement caught my eye. Too bad the coyote didn't see him! We have very few grey squirrels at the back feeders as it is too open but this one was brave. Wednesday, February 19...
