An Early Nigeria Update. An Early Nigeria Update ». It has been quite some time (over a year) since we made this effort. A lot has happened in the past year, but not a lot has changed. Our last missive in January, 2003, found Maxine and I in South Africa for her surgery. Our House in Abuja. An Early Nigeria Update. An Early Nigeria Update. Hello to All,. After my two year assignment in Saudi Arabia, we returned for a second round with Abuja. The political situation and the staffing patterns of the expanded mission there made it attractive to me, even though returning for an encore is not all that normal in the Foreign Service. We arrived there in August last year and proceeded to settle in. My work kept me extremely busy throughout. Our House in Abuja, Nigeria. Best wishes to all,.
