It's said that the white frontal plate on the adult's head is the reason for the phrase 'bald as a coot.'. Looking at the youngster, I'm not convinced it's the only reason. HASLAM PARK LOCAL NATURE RESERVE. POTENTIAL NEW NATURE RESERVE IN COTTAM. Maxy House Farm on Sandy Lane. Several weeks ago, an article appeared in the Lancashire Evening Post relating to a local farmers plans to devote much of his 60 acres of land for the benefit of wildlife. One of the principal driving forces behind this is the fact that for a number of years Lapwings have nested in one of his fields. Sunday, December 21, 2008. Has set in.we officially are going to have a mortgage. We have a nice size block in a new estate in the south eastern suburbs and now we have signed up to build a 29 sq home, with a May 09 start date! We have added a few extra things to the house that we cant add later, i.e. bigger garage and alfresco. Ill keep you updated on all the ups and down of our journey.
